Relative tolerance of photosystem II in spike, leaf, and stem of bread and durum wheat under desiccation

open access: yesPhotosynthetica, 2019
In dryland regions, soil moisture stress often leads to desiccation and causes injury to photosynthetic machinery. Recently, chlorophyll fluorescence (ChlF)-based assessment of photosynthetic efficiency under drought stress is gaining attention due to ...

Nitric oxide (NO) regulates the expression of single-domain cystatins in glycine max (soybean) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Plant cystatins inhibit cysteine proteases and are important in regulating plant development and plant responses to biotic and abiotic stress. Furthermore, nitric oxide plays a signaling role in regulating plant responses to developmental processes ...

The Genetic Wiring of Plant Trichomes: From Initiation to Fate Specification

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Plant trichomes are not just simple hairs but metabolic powerhouses shaped by complex genetic programs. While the MYB‐bHLH‐WD40 module is well studied in Arabidopsis, recent findings reveal that HD‐Zip IV transcription factors drive multicellular and glandular trichome development through dose‐dependent mechanisms.

Deciphering desiccation tolerance in wild eggplant species: insights from chlorophyll fluorescence dynamics

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology
Background Climate change exacerbates abiotic stresses, which are expected to intensify their impact on crop plants. Drought, the most prevalent abiotic stress, significantly affects agricultural production worldwide.

Applications of Molecular Biology and Genomics to Genetic Enhancement of Crop Tolerance to Abiotic Stress : a Discussion Document [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The discussions on abiotic stress genomics were initiated at TAC 80 in March 2000 at ICARDA, Aleppo, Syria. Under the agenda item Trends in Science: Implications for CGIAR, TAC discussed the opportunities offered by the new sciences in improving the ...

Hump‐Shaped Relationship Between Microbial Carbon Use‐Efficiency and Soil Organic Carbon in Alpine Grasslands

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
On the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau, microbial carbon use efficiency (CUE) peaks at intermediate soil organic carbon levels and declines thereafter. In carbon‐rich soils, the formation of stable mineral‐associated organic carbon is decoupled from microbial CUE.
