Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Coronary sinus diverticulum as a cause of resistant posteroseptal pathway ablation

open access: yesJournal of the Saudi Heart Association, 2011
Coronary sinus (CS) anomalies such as diverticulum, persistent left superior vena cava or CS ostium dilatation are predominantly found in patients with accessory pathway-related tachycardias. Diverticulum of the proximal CS found in 7-11% of patients with postero-septal or left posterior manifests accessory pathways. We reported a 28 year old gentleman

B4C-MODIFIED SiO2-PHENOLIC COMPOSITES FOR ENHANCED ABLATION RESISTANCE

open access: yes, 2017
In the present paper, the silica-phenolic composite (S-Ph) composites with different amount of B4C were prepared, and the ablation tests of these composites were carried out using oxygen–acetylene jet.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Tailoring ablation resistance of (Hf,Zr,Ta)C coatings above 2000 °C: Critical role of Ta content

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Ceramics
Multicomponent (Hf,Zr,Ta)C ceramics are promising candidates for ablation-resistant coating materials applied in ultrahigh-temperature environments. However, the influence of compositional variations on their ablation behavior remains insufficiently ...

Catheter ablation of drug resistant supraventricular tachycardia in neonates and infants

open access: yesCardiology Journal, 2013
The aim of this study was to evaluate the indications, results and complications of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and transcatheter cryoablation (TCA) in neonates and infants with incessant drug-resistant supraventricular tachycardia (SVT).Out of 225 patients who underwent RFA and TCA at our center between January2010 and February 2012, 5 patients ...

Microstructure and High-Temperature Ablation Behaviour of Hafnium-Doped Tungsten-Yttrium Alloys

open access: yes, 2023
W is a widely used refractory metal with ultra-high melting point up to 3410 °C. However, its applications are limited by poor ablation resistance under high-temperature flame and air flow, which is crucial for aerospace vehicles.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.
