Regulation of Abscisic Acid Biosynthesis [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 2003
Plant growth and development are regulated by internal signals and by external environmental conditions. One important regulator that coordinates growth and development with responses to the environment is the sesquiterpenoid hormone abscisic acid (ABA).

Enhancing the vase life of cut roses through spectral optimisation during greenhouse cultivation

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, EarlyView.
Here, we examined three red‐to‐blue (R:B) light emitting diode (LED) ratios (90:10, 80:20 and 70:30) in two cut rose cultivars. All treatments enhanced photosynthesis, with 90:10 showing the strongest effects—raising chlorophyll, carotenoids, anthocyanins and carbohydrate levels, and extending vase life by up to 30%.

The interaction of calcium with ethylene and abscisic acid in the pathogenesis of wheat seedlings caused by Fusarium culmorum

open access: yesActa Agrobotanica, 2013
The influence of ethylene and abscisic acid on the infection of wheat seedlings by Fusarium culmorum depending on the content of calcium in the medium was investigated.

Antioxidant activity and phenolic profile of selected organic and conventional honeys from Poland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Honey is a natural food product hypothesized to have significant health-beneficial value. The results of recent studies indicate that the biological activity of honey can also be ascribed to phenolic compounds and their antioxidant activity.

Roles of Abscisic Acid in Fruit Ripening

open access: yesWalailak Journal of Science and Technology, 2012
Abscisic acid (ABA) is a plant growth regulator, and it plays a variety of important roles throughout a plant’s life cycle. These roles include seed development and dormancy, plant response to environmental stresses, and fruit ripening. ABA concentration

A specific group of genes respond to cold dehydration stress in cut Alstroemeria flowers whereas ambient dehydration stress accelerates developmental senescence expression patterns [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Petal development and senescence entails a normally irreversible process. It starts with petal expansion and pigment production, and ends with nutrient remobilization and ultimately cell death.

A signaling pathway mediating abscisic acid‐induced jasmonic acid biosynthesis during strawberry ripening

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
During strawberry ripening, abscisic acid signaling activates SnRK2.6, which phosphorylates and degrades the JAZ12 repressor. This releases the MYC2 transcription factor, directly activating jasmonic acid biosynthesis genes. The resulting jasmonic acid accumulation drives aroma production, thereby coupling ripening with scent formation through this ...
