Absolute Calibration of Dual Frequency Timing Receivers for Galileo

open access: yes, 2013
The timing service of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) is being steadily improved. Generally, this fact traces back to increasing accuracy of the provided ephemeris data, improvements in Precise Point Positioning, continuous refinement of time ...

Pomiędzy mistyką i dialektyką. Angelus Silesius w filozofii Leszka Kołakowskiego

open access: yesStudia Philosophica Wratislaviensia
The study of mysticism, particularly the “heterodox” part of Angelus Silesius’ Cherubic Wanderer, plays a key role in Kołakowski’s grasp of 17th century philosophy, modernity, as well as serving to shape and explicate his own philosophical concept.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

On the weighting of the mean-absolute-deviation cost minimization model

open access: yes, 2013
The mean-absolute-deviation cost minimization model, which aims to minimize sum of the mean value and the absolute deviation (AD) of the total cost multiplied by a given non-negative weighting, is one of a number of typical robust optimization models ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Absolutive control and absolute universals

open access: yes, 2021
It is widely held, across frameworks, that complement control universally targets the subject function, cross-cutting major alignment divisions. Whether case follows an accusative or ergative or other alignment, it is consistently the subject of a non-finite complement clause that is normally unexpressed and understood as coreferent with a matrix ...

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

Consistent Estimation of Integrated Volatility Using Intraday Absolute Returns for SV Jump Diffusion Processes [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper, we consider an integrated volatility estimation of a stochastic volatility jump diffusion model using intraday absolute returns. We introduce our estimator as a natural extension of realized absolute variation, proposed by Barndorff ...

Absolute Poverty Measures for the Developing World, 1981-2004

open access: yes, 2007
The authors report new estimates of measures of absolute poverty for the developing world over 1981-2004. A clear trend decline in the percentage of people who are absolutely poor is evident, although with uneven
