Mitigation of edge cracking during accumulative roll bonding (ARB) of aluminum strips
Journal of Manufacturing Processes, 2020Abstract Accumulative roll bonding (ARB) of aluminum alloy strips is often limited by severe edge cracking due to large, single-pass rolling reductions. Edge cracks are often caused by either poor alignment of the roll-bonded strips or lateral spreading.

Hybrid composites produced by anodizing and accumulative roll bonding (ARB) processes
Ceramics International, 2014Abstract In this study, microstructure and mechanical properties of Al/1.6 vol% Al2O3/1.5 vol% B4C hybrid composite produced by anodizing and accumulative roll bonding (ARB) processes were investigated. Microstructural observations and fractography were performed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Also, the mechanical properties were investigated

Al-based magnetic composites produced by accumulative roll bonding (ARB)
Materials Science and Engineering: B, 2016Abstract Accumulative roll bonding (ARB) was used to fabricate Al/Ni (with two initial Ni thicknesses) and Al/Ni/Fe 3 O 4 composites. During ARB, Ni layers necked and fractured owing to the difference in flow properties of Al and Ni. In addition, large and elongated clusters of Fe 3 O 4 particles were broken into smaller ones and distributed ...

Role of shear strain in ultragrain refinement by accumulative roll-bonding (ARB) process
Scripta Materialia, 2002Abstract The role of shear strain on ultragrain refinement of aluminum during accumulative roll-bonding (ARB) process was studied. The complicated distribution of redundant shear strain through thickness of the ARB processed sheets was quantitatively shown first, and good correspondence between the grain size and the amount of shear strain was found.
