The Effect of Maternal Pertussis Vaccination on Neonatal Health Outcomes in the Dutch Pregnancy Drug Register

open access: yesBirth Defects Research, Volume 118, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background The currently high pertussis‐related morbidity and mortality among infants has led to increased international attention for pertussis vaccination during pregnancy. We studied the safety of maternal pertussis vaccination in the Netherlands with respect to neonatal health. Methods Data from the cohort the Dutch Pregnancy Drug Register

Cancer Neuroscience: Innovative Conception and Emerging Strategy of Therapy

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
In this review, we summarize nerve–cancer interactions and conclude two additional interactions, “perineural invasion” and “neuro‐microbic‐oncology.” Emphasizing the important role of nerves in tumor progression. The nervous system also contributes to the development of cancer comorbidities such as cancer depression and cognitive dysfunction.

Vacina acelular contra pertússis para adolescentes Acellular pertussis vaccine for adolescents

Oncolytic Therapy: Delivery System and New Therapeutic Strategies for Cancer

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
This review summarizes recent advances in nanoparticle‐ and cell‐mediated OVs delivery strategies that improve biodistribution and tumor targeting while limiting immune clearance. It also examines combination approaches that enhance therapeutic efficacy through tumor microenvironment modulation or immune activation, thereby overcoming immunosuppression

Pertussis Maternal Immunization: Narrowing the Knowledge Gaps on the Duration of Transferred Protective Immunity and on Vaccination Frequency

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2017
Maternal safety through pertussis vaccination and subsequent maternal–fetal-antibody transfer are well documented, but information on infant protection from pertussis by such antibodies and by subsequent vaccinations is scarce.

Pertussis and the acellular vaccines

open access: yesCommunicable Diseases Intelligence, 1996
Morbidity and mortality from pertussis continue to be a problem worldwide, both because the organism is difficult to eradicate and because there is non-compliance with vaccination, often owing to concerns about side effects of the whole-cell vaccine. The new acellular vaccines have fewer side effects and appear to be efficacious, although costly.

Tumor Organoid and Microenvironment Cocultures: Implications for Basic and Translational Cancer Research

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
Organoid technology has attracted significant attention in cancer research. By incorporating tumor organoids with elements of the tumor microenvironment in coculture systems, researchers have gained powerful new tools to unravel the complex interplay that influences tumor progression and therapeutic outcomes.
