Analysis of Adiabatic Batch Reactor

open access: yesUndergraduate Journal of Mathematical Modeling: One + Two, 2016
A mixture of acetic anhydride is reacted with excess water in an adiabatic batch reactor to form an exothermic reaction. The concentration of acetic anhydride and the temperature inside the adiabatic batch reactor are calculated with an initial ...

A Chemical and Enzymatic Approach to Study Site-Specific Sumoylation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A variety of cellular pathways are regulated by protein modifications with ubiquitin-family proteins. SUMO, the Small Ubiquitin-like MOdifier, is covalently attached to lysine on target proteins via a cascade reaction catalyzed by E1, E2, and E3 enzymes.

Optimization of wood flour acetylation by factorial design and partial least squares regression

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2012
Acetylation was performed to reduce the polarity of wood and increase its compatibility with polymer matrices for the production of composites. These reactions were performed first as a function of acetic acid and anhydride concentration in a mixture ...

Intermolecular Interactions as Driving Force of Increasing Multiphoton Absorption in a Perylene Diimide‐Based Coordination Polymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study uncovers the unexplored role of intermolecular interactions in multiphoton absorption in coordination polymers. By analyzing [Zn2tpda(DMA)2(DMF)0.3], it shows how the electronic coupling of the chromophores and confinement in the MOF enhance two‐and three‐photon absorption.

Effects of different activation processes on H2O2/TAED bleaching of Populus nigra chemi-thermo mechanical pulp [PDF]

open access: yesBioResources, 2012
Tetra acetyl ethylene diamine (TAED) was used as an activator in H2O2 bleaching to improve bleaching efficiency. The present work was aimed at confirming different activations for various H2O2/TAED bleaching processes, including the addition of acetic ...

A Peptide Nucleic Acid‐Functionalized Heterojunction Thin Film Transistor as a Scalable and Reusable Platform for Label‐Free Detection of MicroRNA

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A miniaturized, label‐free, and enzyme‐free biosensor (miR‐TFT) enables direct electrical detection of microRNA (miRNA) with single‐nucleotide specificity and a detection limit of 0.6 fM. Built on a tri‐channel In2O3/ZnO heterojunction and functionalized with bespoke peptide nucleic acid (PNA) probes, the device is robust, reusable, and compatible with
