Management of bacterial wilt in tomatoes with thymol and acibenzolar-S-methyl

open access: yesCrop Protection, 2011
Abstract The combination of thymol, a monoterpene phenol compound originating from thyme, and acibenzolar- S -methyl (ASM; Actigard 50 WG), a systemic acquired resistance (SAR) inducer, was applied to tomato plants in field conditions to evaluate the effectiveness of both chemicals to control bacterial wilt. Thymol was applied as a soil fumigant at 9.

Resistance of Peanut to Sclerotinia Blight and the Effect of Acibenzolar-S-methyl and Fluazinam on Disease Incidence [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2002
Sclerotinia minor, a soilborne fungal pathogen of peanut, can cause serious yield loss in North Carolina. A field test was implemented to study genotype reaction, and the effect of aciben-zolar-S-methyl (a plant activator) and the fungicide fluazinam on disease incidence. In all, 13 genotypes in 1997 and 12 genotypes in 1998 were evaluated.

The Potato StNAC2-StSABP2 Module Enhanced Resistance to Phytophthora infestans Through Activating the Salicylic Acid Pathway. [PDF]

open access: yesMol Plant Pathol
The transcription factor StNAC2 upregulated the expression of StSABP2, encoding a protein that converts methyl salicylate (MeSA) into SA, activating the SA signalling pathway and enhancing resistance to Phytophthora infestans. ABSTRACT Potato late blight is an important disease in potato production, which causes serious damage. Salicylic acid (SA) is a

Intervals and Number of Applications of Acibenzolar-S-Methyl for the Control of Bacterial Spot on Processing Tomato [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2016
Acibenzolar-S-methyl (ASM) is a plant activator that triggers systemic acquired resistance that is labeled for use in Brazil for managing tomato bacterial spot. The aim of this study was to define the optimum relationship between interval and number of applications of ASM for the most efficacious control of bacterial spot on processing tomato.
