Integrated Use of Oxidative Stress and Histological Biomarkers of T. tinca as Indicators of 17‐Alpha‐Ethynylestradiol Exposure

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, Volume 41, Issue 1, Page 49-67, January 2026.
ABSTRACT The potential adverse effects of 17‐alpha‐ethynylestradiol (50, 100, and 500 μg EE2/kg b.w., for 30 days) on tench ( Tinca tinca ) were evaluated by integrating biomarkers including physiological (hepato‐somatic index, spleen‐somatic index, and hematocrit), oxidative stress (catalase, glutathione peroxidase, and glutathione reductase ...

Stress Nutrition in Aquatic Animals: From Definition to Practice

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, Volume 18, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Aquaculture faces numerous challenges, with stress being one of the major issues that lead to growth loss, metabolic disorders, weakened immunity, redox imbalance, and organ damage in aquatic animals. Nutritional intervention is one of the effective strategies to address these problems. Traditional research has primarily focused on the impacts

Insufficient or Excessive Niacin Intake Induced Glucose and Lipid Metabolic Disorders and Impaired Liver Health in Nile Tilapia

open access: yesAquaculture Nutrition, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Niacin (vitamin B3) is involved in the metabolic regulation of energy metabolism in animals. However, both deficiency and excess supplementation of niacin can induce profound physiological disturbances in fish. The present study investigated the effect of niacin on energy metabolism and liver health in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus).

Combined Substitution of Fishmeal and Fish Oil With Black Soldier Fly Larval Meal and Corn Oil: Effects on Growth, Hematology, Hematobiochemical, Amino and Fatty Acid Composition, and Fillet Nutritional Quality of Hybrid African Catfish Clarias gariepinus × Heterobranchus longifilis

open access: yesAquaculture Nutrition, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This study aimed to evaluate growth performance, amino acid and fatty acid composition of fillets, and blood biochemistry of hybrid catfish (Heteroclarias) cultured on Black Soldier Fly (BSF), Hermetia illucens larval‐based diets. The experiment was conducted in a recirculating system, circular poly tanks (350 L), in a completely randomized design ...

Global Research Trends of Black Soldier Fly Larvae (Hermetia illucens) Meal in Aquaculture From a Scientometric Perspective (2007–2025)

open access: yesAquaculture Nutrition, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Black soldier fly larvae (Hermetia illucens) meal (BSFLM) has gained increasing attention over the past two decades as a sustainable and functional ingredient in aquafeeds. This study presents the first scientometric analysis of BSFLM research in aquaculture from 2007 to 2025, using data from Scopus and Web of Science (WOS).

Substituting Soybean Meal With Rapeseed Green Cake: A Holistic Assessment of Growth, Metabolic Response, and Intestinal Status in Juvenile Largemouth Bass (Micropterus salmoides)

open access: yesAquaculture Nutrition, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This study evaluated rapeseed green cake (RGC) as a partial replacement for soybean meal (SBM) in diets for juvenile largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides; 15.63 ± 0.30 g). Five isonitrogenous (47.64%) and isolipidic (11.9%) diets replaced 0% (RGC0), 25% (RGC25), 50% (RGC50), 75% (RGC75), or 100% (RGC100) of SBM protein with RGC.
