Investigation on possibility of separation of Acipenser persicus and Acipenser gueldenstaedtii using molecular cytogenetics techniques

open access: yes, 2010
Location of family Satellite DNA (HindIII SatDNA) on chromosomes of Acipenser persicus and Acipenser gueldenstaedtii was analyzed using Fluorescent in Situ Hybridization (FISH) technique to determine the genetic differences between these two species. After obtaining suitable metaphase plates using leukocyte culture and HindIII SatDNA extraction from ...

Formation and structure of egg envelopes in Russian sturgeon Acipenser gueldenstaedtii (Acipenseriformes: Acipenseridae)

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, 2010
The covering of the eggs in Russian sturgeon Acipenser gueldenstaedtii consists of three envelopes (the vitelline envelope, chorion and extrachorion) and is equipped with multiple micropyles. The most proximal to the oocyte is the vitelline envelope that consists of four layers of filamentous and trabecular material.
