Regulation of spermatozoa motility in response to cations in Russian sturgeon Acipenser gueldenstaedtii

Theriogenology, 2012
The aim of this study was to investigate the response of Russian sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii) sperm to external cations (Na(+), K(+), Ca(2+), and Mg(2+)) and their susceptibility on the induction of motility and swimming behavior. An in vitro spermatozoa motility assay was used by a computer-aided Motion-Analysis system.

Dietary copper requirement of juvenile Russian sturgeon Acipenser gueldenstaedtii

Aquaculture, 2016
Abstract To quantify the dietary copper (Cu) requirement of Russian sturgeon Acipenser gueldenstaedtii, copper sulfate (CuSO4·5H2O) was added into the basal semi-purified diet at seven levels 0, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 16 mg Cu kg− 1 diet yielding the actual dietary values of 0.3, 1.5, 2.4, 4.4, 6.2, 8.3 and 16.1 mg Cu kg− 1 diet, respectively.

Intersex gonad differentiation in cultured Russian (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii) and Siberian (Acipenser baerii) sturgeon.

Biology of reproduction, 2014
Among sturgeons, the occurrence of individuals with gonads containing both testis and ovary components is considered pathological, and such fish are described as intersex individuals or intersexes. Intersexes are observed in both wild and cultured populations of sturgeon, usually at low frequencies.

Sexual development in Russian sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii) grown in aquaculture

2008
The Russian sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii) has been introduced into aquaculture in recent years, following the decline of natural populations and the resultant increases in the price of caviar. In nature, males and females of this species mature sexually after 8 to 13 and 10 to 16 years, respectively. Fertilized Russian sturgeon eggs were bred up

Determination of artificial propagation normative in Acipenser gueldenstaedtii

2003
This study was carried out to determine artificial breeding normatives of Russian Sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedti). In this research, which was conducted in Shahid Marjani Breeding Center in late winter, 27 female and 13 male broodstocks were used. All broodstocks were provided from Turkeman and Mianghaleh fishing ground in the Caspian Sea.

Effect of body weight on morphophysiological and slaughter characteristics in Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baerii), Russian sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii) and their hybrid (F1 A. baerii x A. gueldenstaedtii)

Agricultural Sciences
The study was carried out with sturgeon fish of different genotypes cultured in a large warm-water reservoir of an industrial cage farm located in southeastern Bulgaria. The study results indicated that the influence of body weight on more than morphological and slaugter characteristics was not unidirectional in fish of different genotypes.

Intraspecific genetic polymorphism of Russian sturgeon Acipenser gueldenstaedtii

Russian Journal of Genetics, 2009
Three populations (Azov, Caspian, and Black Sea) of Russian sturgeon Acipenser queldenstaedtii were tested for polymorphism at nuclear (RAPD and microsatellites) and mitochondrial (PCR identification of two mito-types) markers. In addition, morphometric analysis of he representatives of Azov population was carried out.

Bacterial pathogens and health problems of Acipenser gueldenstaedtii and Acipenser baerii sturgeons reared in the eastern Black Sea region of Turkey.

Iranian journal of veterinary research, 2017
Farming sturgeons is an economically important practice in a number of Asian and European countries. However, since it is not widely implementedin Turkey, fertilized eggs necessary for research and industrial activities are imported from Germany. Due to the interest of several fish farms in culturing sturgeon in Turkey and the lack of relevant data ...
