HHV-6B binds the sperm acrosome.
Semen samples were pre-incubated with HHV-6B for one hr followed by incubation with either vehicle or calcium ionophore for 30 min to induce an acrosome reaction (AR).

STUDIES ON THE ACROSOME. II. ACROSOME REACTION IN STARFISH SPERMATOZOA
1. When the spermatozoa of three starfish species, Asterina pectinifera, Asterias amurensis and Astropecten scoparius, are suspended in a dilute (0.1-1.0%) solution of egg albumin in sea water and mixed with homologous egg-water, three effects can be noted:a. many of the spermatozoa are agglutinated by their heads, forming permanent clusters;b.

Our study expands the variant spectrum of PLCZ1, enriches the clinical characteristics of PLCZ1, and provides a solid base for the genetic counseling, diagnosis, and treatment of this condition. ABSTRACT Background Variations in the PLCZ1 gene can lead to male infertility (MIM #617214), an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by failure or ...

ABSTRACT In a stallion breeding‐soundness examination, testicular volume may be estimated either from total scrotal width or by measuring the height, width and length of both testes. This study aimed to determine whether testicular morphometric parameters obtained by ultrasonography fluctuate throughout the year, and whether these variations affect ...

Update of the risk assessment on dioxins and dioxin‐like PCBs in feed and food
Abstract The European Commission asked EFSA to update its 2018 risk assessment on polychlorinated dibenzo‐p‐dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs) and dioxin‐like polychlorinated biphenyls (DL‐PCBs) in feed and food, based on the 2022 WHO Toxic Equivalency Factors (WHO2022‐TEFs).

Assembly of spermatid acrosome depends on microtubule organization during mammalian spermiogenesis
The acrosome is a secretory vesicle attached to the nucleus of the sperm. Our hypothesis is that microtubules participate in the membrane traffic between the Golgi apparatus and acrosome during the first steps of spermatid differentiation.
