Characterisation of the 2D and 3D density and connectivity attributes of fracture systems in carbonate reservoir analogues: implications for fluid flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Fault zones, hosted in fractured carbonate reservoirs, can behave as either high porosity and permeability conduits, favoring the migration of fluids; or, conversely, as low porosity and permeability barriers, retarding fluid flow, due to the presence of

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Plate Tectonics and Active Faults

open access: yes, 2013
The purpose of this paper was to interpret the active faults and geographical natural feature. We proposed a new“lateral and reverse faults models”considering the characteristics of the models proposed thus far.

Risk assessments on active faults in Taiwan

open access: yes, 2015
Engineering risk assessment is to estimate the structure’s failure probability multiplied by its failure consequences. On the other hand, the analysis was sometimes performed on a more general basis, utilizing a few indicators to quantify relative risk ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Physics-Based Simulation for Health Management of Rotating Machinery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Data-driven techniques for diagnosing faults in rotating machinery have a long history. Such approaches undoubtedly have their strengths and much research is still being performed in this area - recently into gearbox and bearing faults in particular ...

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

Development characteristics and formation mechanism of giant landslides on the main stream of the Jinsha River

open access: yes地震科学进展
The main stream of the Jinsha River traverses the highly complex topography and intense neotectonic movement of the southeastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, where a large number of giant landslides have formed, resulting in severe landslide ...
