Additive Gaussian Process Regression for Predictive Design of High‐Performance, Printable Silicones

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A chemistry‐aware design framework for tuning printable polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for vat photopolymerization (VPP) is developed using additive Gaussian process (GP) modeling. Polymer network mechanics informs variable groupings, feasible formulation constraints, and interaction variables.

Fault Tolerant Control of DFIG-Based Wind Energy Conversion System Using Augmented Observer

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
An augmented sliding mode observer is proposed to solve the actuator fault of an uncertain wind energy conversion system (WECS), which can estimate the system state and reconstruct the actuator faults.

Integrated fault estimation and accommodation design for discrete-time Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy systems with actuator faults [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper addresses the problem of integrated robust fault estimation (FE) and accommodation for discrete-time Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) fuzzy systems. First, a multiconstrained reduced-order FE observer (RFEO) is proposed to achieve FE for discrete-time ...

Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

A Hybrid Fault-Tolerant Control for Nonlinear Active Suspension Systems Subjected to Actuator Faults and Road Disturbances

open access: yesComplexity, 2020
This paper proposes a hybrid fault-tolerant control strategy for nonlinear active suspension subjected to actuator faults and road disturbances. First, an augmented closed-loop system model is established for the nonlinear active suspension system with ...

Symbolic Regression and Multi‐Objective Optimization of the Flory–Huggins Interaction Parameter for Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.

Comments on actuator fault accommodation [PDF]

open access: yesIFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2009
The present work concerns the problem of progressive accommodation to actuator failure. An optimal nonlinear controller synthesis approach is formulated on the basis of the closed loop stability objective. The authors show the interest of the proposed method even for a local analysis when a linear approximation is used.

Model-Based Fault Detection & Control Design Applied to a Pneumatic Application [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In safety critical applications it is important to detect faults that may compromise system safety and to take appropriate action. This paper discusses research carried-out on the development and validation of a model-based fault detection and isolation (
