Febuxostat-induced acute liver injury [PDF]
Febuxostat is a unique xanthine oxidase inhibitor that was approved for the prevention of gout in the United States in 2009. Unlike allopurinol, febuxostat is not a nucleoside analogue and has a higher specificity for xanthine oxidase. Although this drug

Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Ammonia toxicity: from head to toe? [PDF]
Ammonia is diffused and transported across all plasma membranes. This entails that hyperammonemia leads to an increase in ammonia in all organs and tissues.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Renal and Hepatic Dysfunction in Malaria Patients in Minna, North Central Nigeria [PDF]
Information on kidney and liver involvement in malaria in Africa is still very scanty. Kidney and liver functions were assessed in 70 malaria patients using serum levels of creatinine and urea and urinary protein levels as test indicators of kidney ...

Adult respiratory distress syndrome secondary to end-stage liver disease—successful outcome following liver transplantation [PDF]
The adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) complicating liver failure carries a 100% mortality. Two cases of ARDS that resolved following liver transplantation have been reported, one associated with acute allograft rejection, and the second due to ...

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Introduction and aim. Critically ill patients in states of circulatory failure are at risk of acute liver injury, from mild elevations in aminotransferases to substantial rises consistent with hypoxic hepatitis or “shock liver”. The present study aims to
