Non-antibiotic quorum sensing inhibitors acting against N-acyl homoserine lactone synthase as druggable target [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
YesN-acylhomoserine lactone (AHL)-based quorum sensing (QS) is important for the regulation of proteobacterial virulence determinants. Thus, the inhibition of AHL synthases offers non-antibiotics-based therapeutic potentials against QS-mediated bacterial

Analysis of Bacterial Wilt Management Strategies From the Dynamic Perspective of Environmental Adaptation Approaches of Ralstonia solanacearum

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 2, April 2026.
This review reframes bacterial wilt management by analysing control strategies through the lens of the pathogen's evolutionary, physiological and ecological adaptations. This mechanism‐based approach links pathogen traits to control efficacy, guiding the development of more durable solutions.

Interference with the germination and growth of Ulvazoospores by quorum-sensing molecules from Ulva-associated epiphytic bacteria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Ulva zoospores preferentially settle on N-acylhomoserine lactone (AHL) producing marine bacterial biofilms. To investigate whether AHL signal molecules also affect the success and rate of zoospore germination in addition to zoospore attraction, the ...

The MarR Family Transcriptional Regulator EmrR Negatively Regulates the Type III Secretion System (T3SS) and Positively Modulates Pathogenicity in Dickeya oryzae

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 4, April 2026.
This study revealed that the transcriptional regulator EmrR in Dickeya oryzae modulates virulence by regulating hrpL expression and c‐di‐GMP levels. It affects motility, biofilm formation, cellulase production and pathogenicity. EMSA and footprinting confirmed EmrR binds directly to the promoter of its target operon.

Involvement of Acylated Homoserine Lactones (AHLs) of Aeromonas sobria in Spoilage of Refrigerated Turbot (Scophthalmus maximus L.)

open access: yesSensors, 2016
One quorum sensing strain was isolated from spoiled turbot. The species was determined by 16S rRNA gene analysis and classical tests, named Aeromonas sobria AS7.

Programming Next‐Generation Synthetic Biosensors by Genetic Circuit Design

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 14, 9 March 2026.
Synthetic biology enables genetic circuit‐based biosensing to detect diverse targets, process signals, and transduce them into readable outputs or intracellular regulatory activities. However, field deployment and real‐world application of such synthetic biosensors face considerable challenges in sensitivity, specificity, speed, stability, and ...

Cloning, Expression And Characterization Of Ahlinactivating aiiA Gene Homologue In Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Cell-to-cell communication pathway of single-celled microbes is usually coordinated by quorum sensing (QS) system mediated by signal molecules. This cell density-dependent system plays a vital role in functional coordination of most pathogenic ...

Molecular Communication Is the Internet of Brain Missing Key: A Comprehensive Overview of Background Technologies and the Generic Framework

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
A novel three‐layer architecture is proposed for cell‐to‐cell communication, integrating molecular, nano‐electronic, and digital components. It enables bio‐integrated applications such as remote emotional touching, consensual telepathy, and autonomous drug delivery. Molecular Communication (MC) is utilized with advanced implants, modulation techniques,
