Synthesis of Novel BINOL Analogs: 3,3′‐Dicarbonyl‐1,1′‐binaphthyl‐4,4′‐diols as Precursors to the Uncharted 5,5′‐Binaphtho[2,1‐d]isoxazole

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
The parent 5,5′‐binaphtho[2,1‐d]isoxazole and its 3,3′‐dimethyl and 3,3′‐diphenyl derivatives are synthesized via condensation of the respective dicarbonyl compounds with hydroxylamine, followed by cyclodehydration of the resulting dioximes. The dicarbonyl precursors are obtained through 4‐ or 6‐step sequences from 1‐naphthol or 1‐naphthaldehyde ...

A New Methodology for Preparing Benzylated Aminopyridines Yields Previously Inaccessible Organocatalysts

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
ZnBr2‐induced benzylation of 4‐aminopyridineswith suitable alcohols or diols provides access to novel organocatalysts of the unprecedented diarylpyrrolidionopyridine type, as well as new benzylmethylaminopyridine catalysts. These catalysts are practically inaccessible by other routes and exhibit high activity and site selectivity in the phosphorylation

Synthesis of Unnatural Aplysiatoxin Analogs with High Affinity for Protein Kinase C

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
In the course of synthetic study of aplysiatoxin, a potent protein kinase C (PKC) activator, it is serendipitously found that a five‐membered ether 1 obtained as an undesired product from alkyne‐containing macrodiolide 2 with Au catalyst shows a high affinity for PKC.

Development of a Promising Bivalent Vaccine Against Klebsiella pneumoniae Based on Glycoengineered GMMA (geGMMA)

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
Multidrug‐resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae poses a significant threat as a nosocomial pathogen, with no current licensed vaccines available. This study used a mutant E. coli strain expressing exogenous polysaccharides (from K. pneumoniae) to establish glycoengineered generalized modules for membrane antigens (geGMMA) vaccine platform, which demonstrated
