This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Root Growth Adaptation to Climate Change in Crops
Climate change is threatening crop productivity worldwide and new solutions to adapt crops to these environmental changes are urgently needed. Elevated temperatures driven by climate change affect developmental and physiological plant processes that ...

Molecular and genetic mechanisms of physiological adaptations in high- altitude natives Molecular and genetic mechanisms of physiological adaptations in high- altitude natives [PDF]
Physiological properties of adaptation to chronic hypoxia can help the high-altitude natives to overcome oxygen limitations. The protective effects of high altitudes have also been confirmed in experimental studies using the hypobaric chamber.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Cortical transformation of spatial processing for solving the cocktail party problem: a computational model(1,2,3). [PDF]
In multisource, "cocktail party" sound environments, human and animal auditory systems can use spatial cues to effectively separate and follow one source of sound over competing sources.

Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Physiological and biochemical changes in human spaceflights [PDF]
At the moment, a variety of disasters including climate changes and meteorite fall threaten human society on the earth. So, scientists believe that it is important to explore viable alternative planets in the Solar System to ensure survival of the human ...

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.
