Climbing Robots with Adaptive Grippers for Construction
Construction Research Congress 2005, 2005Climbing robots are intended to move over vertical and slope surfaces to fulfill different technological operation by means on-board equipment. Vertical surfaces of buildings can be porous and rough so the robot should perform adaptation to such kinds of surfaces.

Adaptive, pneumatic gripper for assembly
1988The construction of an adaptive, pneumatic gripper is presented. The gripper can be used in the precision assembly of cylindrical parts of different sizes (ø 20 - 40 mm) into holes. This adaptive gripper can compensate for robot positioning errors during assembly, when there is insufficient general robot positioning accuracy (point-to-point +/-0.05 - +/

A New Principle of Adaptive Compliant Gripper
2011Gripping and holding of objects are key tasks for robotic manipulators. The development of universal grippers able to pick up unfamiliar objects of widely varying shapes and surfaces is a very challenging task. This paper presents an approach of the new principle of a universal gripper with adaptable shape morphing surfaces.

Grasping Analysis of a Spherical Self-adaptive Gripper
2019 International Conference on Manipulation, Automation and Robotics at Small Scales (MARSS), 2019In this paper, a new type of robot hand, spherical self-adaptive (SSA) gripper, is analyzed theoretically and experimentally. The SSA gripper uses a motor, a balloon, water, a tendon and a two-stage channel with a bowl-shaped support to realize self-adaptive grasping function.

IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters, 2020
Achieving both the precise pinching and compliant grasping capabilities is a challenging goal for most robotic hands and grippers. Moreover, an active transition between the pinching pose and the grasping pose is difficult for limited degrees-of-freedom (DOF) hands or grippers. Even when using high DOF robotic hands, it requires a substantial amount of

The FBP Gripper: Pin-Array Self-adaptive Gripper Based on Fluid-Driven Bellow Piston Mechanism
2021To overcome the shortcomings of pin-array gripper that have uneven grasping force, this paper proposes a design of a pin-array self-adaptive gripper based on fluid-driven bellow piston mechanism. The gripper could obtain multi-point contact through the array of multiple-slice-bellow piston when grasping, adapts to objects of different shapes and sizes ...

An Under-Actuated and Adaptable Soft Robotic Gripper
2015Development of soft robotic devices with grasping capabilities is an active research area. The inherent property of soft materials, to distribute contact forces, results in a more effective robot/environment interaction with simpler control. In this paper, a three-finger under-actuated adaptable soft gripper is proposed, highlighting the design and ...

Experimental Evaluation and Comparison of Low-Cost Adaptive Mechatronic Grippers
2017Nowadays, robotic systems are not an exclusive of the industry environment anymore. Indeed, in the last decades, they assumed an important role in other application fields such as medicine (e.g. robot-assisted surgery) and agriculture (e.g. fruit picking). To meet the requirements of these new fields of application, this transition has involved both an
