Adaptive radiation strategy with V20 limitation associates with survival benefit and lower incidence of symptomatic radiation pneumonitis in stage III NSCLC patients receiving concurrent immunotherapy and thoracic radiation

open access: yesTranslational Oncology
Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy and the incidence of symptomatic radiation pneumonitis (RP) of the adaptive radiation strategy with V20 limitation in stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients receiving concurrent immunotherapy and ...

Optimization of spatiotemporally fractionated radiotherapy treatments with bounds on the achievable benefit

open access: yes, 2017
Spatiotemporal fractionation schemes, that is, treatments delivering different dose distributions in different fractions, may lower treatment side effects without compromising tumor control.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Online radiotherapy—the paradigm shift to real-time adaptive radiotherapy

open access: yesDeutsches Ärzteblatt international
Adaptive radiotherapy (ART) involves the continuous adaptation of the radiation plan according to patient- and tumor-specific feedback. In online ART, the plan is optimized in real time during the treatment; in offline ART, the plan is recalculated between treatment sessions.

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Direct inverse deformation field approach to pelvic-area symmetric image registration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper presents a novel technique for a consistent symmetric deformable image registration based on an accurate method for a direct inversion of a large motion model deformation field.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.
