Adaptive Chattering-Free PID Sliding Mode Control for Tracking Problem of Uncertain Dynamical Systems

open access: yes, 2022
Aiming at the trajectory tracking problem with unknown uncertainties, a novel controller composed of proportional-integral-differential sliding mode surface (PIDSM) and variable gain hyperbolic reaching law is proposed.

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Toward Knowledge‐Based Workflows: A Semantic Approach to Atomistic Simulations for Mechanical and Thermodynamic Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Knowledge‐based atomistic workflows are presented for mechanical and thermodynamic properties. By coupling modular simulations with ontology‐aligned metadata and provenance, Fe case studies on elastic behavior, defects, thermal properties, and Hall–Petch strengthening reveal how FAIR, queryable, and reusable simulation data can be generated. Mechanical

ADAPTIVE SLIDING-MODE CONTROL: SIMPLEX-TYPE METHOD

open access: yes, 2015
The simplex method is easy and brief for designing the sliding mode, but it also has some disadvantages. Since the control vectors are constant, the chattering phenomenon also occurs when switching control takes place in simplex-type SMC scheme.

Adaptive observer-based non-linear stochastic system control with sliding mode schemes

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper, an adaptive sliding mode observer is designed to reconstruct the states of non-linear stochastic systems with uncertainties from the measurable system output and the reconstructed states are employed to construct a sliding mode controller ...

A Dislocation Perspective on Strength and Toughness in Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Dislocations in ceramics enjoy a long but yet under‐appreciated history. The three research waves for dislocations in ceramics highlight the topic evolution over the last 90 years. This review focuses on the impact of dislocation on strength and toughness in ceramics.

Mechanical Behavior and Fracture Mechanisms of MXene/PVDF Nanocomponsites: In Situ Characterization and Multiscale Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multiscale experiments and modeling reveal how Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets reinforce PVDF nanocomposites. An optimal MXene loading (∼1 wt.%) nearly doubles tensile strength through efficient stress transfer, flake alignment, and crack‐deflection mechanisms, transforming ductile polymer behavior into a controlled multi‐stage fracture pathway which aligns ...
