Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Development of a High Strength Magnesium Alloy for Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing

open access: yes, 2020
Due to their high specific strength, magnesium alloys are promising materials for further lightweighting in mobility applications. In contrast to casting and forming processes, additive manufacturing methods allow high degrees of geometrical freedom and ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

The Effect of Post-Heat Treatments on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of a L-PBF CoCrNi–AlTi Medium-Entropy Alloy

open access: yesMetals
A CoCrNi-AlTi medium-entropy alloy was fabricated via laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF), and its microstructural evolution and mechanical response during aging at 500–900 °C for 1 h were systematically investigated.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Measuring the Depth of Subsurface Defects in Additive Manufacturing Components by Laser-Generated Ultrasound

open access: yes, 2022
A new method to measure the depth of subsurface defects in additive manufacturing components is proposed based on the velocity dispersion analysis of Lamb waves by the wavelet-transform of laser ultrasound.

In situ observation and reduction of hot-cracks in laser additive manufacturing

open access: yesCommunications Materials
Cracking during Laser Additive Manufacturing is a problem for many higher-strength aluminium alloys, including AA6061. Here, we used a pulsed laser with ramp-down power modulation to improve the cracking resistance by about 50% compared to the use of a ...

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.
