Position Effect Takes Precedence Over Target Sequence in Determination of Adenine Methylation Patterns in the Nuclear Genome of a Eukaryote, \u3cem\u3eTetrahymena thermophila\u3c/em\u3e [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Approximately 0.8% of the adenine residues in the macronuclear DNA of the ciliated protozoan Tetrahymena thermophila are modified to N6-methyladenine. DNA methylation is site specific and the pattern of methylation is constant between clonal cell lines ...

Stretching of a single-stranded DNA: Evidence for structural transition

open access: yes, 2009
Recent experiments have shown that the force-extension (F-x) curve for single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) consisting only of adenine [poly(dA)] is significantly different from thymine [poly(dT)].

High‐Yield Synthesis of Fe‐NC Electrocatalysts Using Mg2+ Templating and Schiff‐Base Porous Organic Polymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fe─NC porous oxygen reduction electrocatalysts are prepared employing a 2,4,6‐Triaminopyrimidine‐based porous organic polymer, a Mg2+ Lewis acid, and a low‐temperature cation exchange protocol. Using the polymer precursor achieves high pyrolysis yields and results in atomically dispersed FeNx sites. The resulting catalysts feature hierarchical porosity

Influence of a fluorobenzene nucleobase analogue on the conformational flexibility of RNA studied by molecular dynamics simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Chemically modified bases are frequently used to stabilize nucleic acids, to study the driving forces for nucleic acid structure formation and to tune DNA and RNA hybridization conditions.

Abundant Z-cyanomethanimine in the interstellar medium: paving the way to the synthesis of adenine

open access: yes, 2018
We report the first detection in the interstellar medium of the Z-isomer of cyanomethanimine (HNCHCN), an HCN dimer proposed as precursor of adenine. We identified six transitions of Z-cyanomethanimine, along with five transitions of E-cyanomethanimine ...

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide is transported into mammalian mitochondria

open access: yeseLife, 2018
Mitochondrial NAD levels influence fuel selection, circadian rhythms, and cell survival under stress. It has alternately been argued that NAD in mammalian mitochondria arises from import of cytosolic nicotinamide (NAM), nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN),

Smarter Sensors Through Machine Learning: Historical Insights and Emerging Trends across Sensor Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights how machine learning (ML) algorithms are employed to enhance sensor performance, focusing on gas and physical sensors such as haptic and strain devices. By addressing current bottlenecks and enabling simultaneous improvement of multiple metrics, these approaches pave the way toward next‐generation, real‐world sensor applications.

ROS‐Triggered Microgels for Programmable Drug Release in Volumetric Muscle Loss Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Reduced graphene oxide‐incorporated hyaluronic acid microgels are developed as ROS‐responsive, injectable platforms for curcumin delivery in volumetric muscle loss. The microgels exhibit strong antioxidative activity, high drug‐loading capacity, and ROS‐triggered release.

Fox grape cv. Bordô (Vitis labrusca L.) and grapevine cv. Chardonnay (Vitis vinifera L.) cultivated in vitro under different carbohydrates, amino acids and 6-Benzylaminopurine levels

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2013
The aim of this work was to study the influence of sucrose and glucose, amino acids and BAP (6-Benzylaminopurine) levels on in vitro shoot regeneration of fox grape cv. Bordô and grapevine cv. Chardonnay.
