NAMPT and NAPRT, Key Enzymes in NAD Salvage Synthesis Pathway, Are of Negative Prognostic Value in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2019
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) is a profoundly important cofactor in redox reactions. Nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT) and nicotinate phosphoribosyltransferase (NAPRT) are key enzymes for NAD salvage biosynthesis pathway, which ...

Aging‐Derived Alterations in Genomic, Immune, and Metabolic Networks: Implications for Cancer Development and Therapy

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 5, Issue 1, March 2026.
Ageing acts as a double‐edged sword in cancer. In the elderly, open chromatin, immunosenescence, and chronic inflammation drive SASP (IL‐6, MMPs), MDSC accumulation and T‐cell suppression, fostering tumor‐promoting microenvironments and limited therapeutic benefit.

Tryptophan metabolite atlas uncovers organ, age, and sex‐specific variations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 16, Issue 1, Page 52-67, January 2026.
Tryptophan metabolites were analyzed across twelve organs, the central nervous system, and serum in male and female mice at three life stages. We found tissue‐, sex‐, and age‐specific differences, including increased indole‐3‐pyruvate and kynurenine in aging males.

Synthetic lethality in cancer therapy: Mechanisms, models and clinical translation for overcoming therapeutic resistance

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
Application of synthetic lethality screening in drug resistance models. Abstract Background and Rationale Synthetic lethality (SL)‐based strategies hold significant promise for overcoming therapeutic resistance, a critical bottleneck in cancer treatment where cancer cells evade anticancer therapies, leading to diminished efficacy or treatment failure ...

Fish Oil Ameliorates Glycolipid Metabolism Disorders Induced by Long‐Term Potato Chip Diet Through Gut‐Liver Axis

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2026.
Fried potato consumption is increasingly associated with metabolic disorders, yet preventive strategies remain poorly understood. In a 13‐week mouse model, long‐term potato chip intake induced significant glycolipid metabolic disturbances and tissue damage, which were ameliorated by fish oil supplementation through modulation of inflammation, hepatic ...

Extracellular nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (eNAMPT) neutralization counteracts T cell immune evasion in breast cancer

open access: yesJournal for ImmunoTherapy of Cancer, 2023
Background Nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT) is a key intracellular enzyme that participates in nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) homeostasis as well as a released cytokine (eNAMPT) that is elevated in inflammatory conditions and in ...

Enzymatic and Chemical Syntheses of Vacor Analogs of Nicotinamide Riboside, NMN and NAD

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2021
It has recently been demonstrated that the rat poison vacor interferes with mammalian NAD metabolism, because it acts as a nicotinamide analog and is converted by enzymes of the NAD salvage pathway. Thereby, vacor is transformed into the NAD analog vacor

Emerging Therapeutic Strategies in Anti‐Aging Medicine: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesMedicine Bulletin, Volume 2, Issue 1, Page 94-123, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Aging is orchestrated by interconnected hallmarks such as genomic instability, mitochondrial dysfunction, cellular senescence, and disrupted intercellular communication, which collectively drive chronic disease progression. Recent advances have expanded therapeutic opportunities to include pharmacological agents, gene and epigenome editing ...

Visfatin: A Possible Role in Cardiovasculo-Metabolic Disorders

open access: yesCells, 2020
Visfatin/NAMPT (nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase) is an adipocytokine with several intriguing properties. It was first identified as pre-B-cell colony-enhancing factor but turned out to possess enzymatic functions in nicotinamide adenine ...
