A complex containing SNF1-related kinase (SnRK1) and adenosine kinase in Arabidopsis.
SNF1-related kinase (SnRK1) in plants belongs to a conserved family that includes sucrose non-fermenting 1 kinase (SNF1) in yeast and AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) in animals.

Given the frequent misregulation of chromatin in cancer, it is important to understand the cellular mechanisms that regulate chromatin structure. However, systematic screening for epigenetic regulators is challenging and often relies on laborious assays ...

CRISPR/Cas13a-assisted AMP generation for SARS-CoV-2 RNA detection using a personal glucose meter
Herein, we described a washing- and label-free clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/LwaCas13a-based RNA detection method utilizing a personal glucose meter (PGM), which relies on the trans-cleavage activity of CRISPR/Cas13a ...

Exercise for endurance and strength:Always separate? [PDF]
Physical training can be classified into three main types: endurance, resistance, and patterned movements. The first two of them have a significant impact on muscle phenotype and metabolism while patterned movement exercises concern changes in a motor ...

Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Phosphatase-coupled universal kinase assay and kinetics for first-order-rate coupling reaction. [PDF]
Kinases use adenosine-5'-triphosphate (ATP) as the donor substrate and generate adenosine-5'-diphosphate (ADP) as a product. An ADP-based phosphatase-coupled kinase assay is described here.

Metabolic regulation of regulatory T cell development and function [PDF]
It is now well established that the effector T cell (Teff) response is regulated by a series of metabolic switches. Quiescent T cells predominantly require ATP-generating processes, whereas proliferating Teff require high metabolic flux through growth ...

Adenosine kinase regulation of cardiomyocyte hypertrophy
There is evidence that extracellular adenosine can attenuate cardiac hypertrophy, but the mechanism by which this occurs is not clear. Here we investigated the role of adenosine receptors and adenosine metabolism in attenuation of cardiomyocyte hypertrophy.

Metformin mediates mitochondrial quality control in Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) fibroblasts carrying mtDNA mutations. At therapeutic levels, metformin activates AMPK signaling to restore mitochondrial dynamics by promoting fusion and restraining fission, while preserving mitochondrial mass, enhancing autophagy/mitophagy and biogenesis ...

A guanosine 5′-triphosphate-dependent protein kinase is localized in the outer envelope membrane of pea chloroplasts [PDF]
A guanosine 5-triphosphate (GTP)-dependent protein kinase was detected in preparations of outer chloroplast envelope membranes of pea (Pisum sativum L.) chloroplasts.
