Decellularized Extracellular Matrix (dECM) in Tendon Regeneration: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Decellularized Extracellular Matrix (dECM) offers a promising solution by replicating the native tendon microenvironment and promoting regeneration. This review highlights advances in the decellularization methods, as well as their integration with emerging technologies and translational progress in tendon tissue engineering.

Effect of oral glucose administration on rebound growth hormone release in normal and obese women: the role of adiposity, insulin sensitivity and ghrelin. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Metabolic substrates and nutritional status play a major role in growth hormone (GH) secretion. Uncovering the mechanisms involved in GH secretion following oral glucose (OG) administration in normal and obese patients is a pending issue. The aim of this ...

Diels‐Alder Click Chemistry as a Dynamic‐Covalent Crosslinking Method in Spheroid‐Encapsulating Hydrogels for Cartilage Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This research shows the development of hydrogels with Diels‐Alder click chemistry for engineering cartilage‐like tissue. The hydrogels support cartilage spheroids which could be cultured for at least 28 days. Furthermore, the spheroids showed a tendency to fuse together into a more consistent construct, and produced important components needed for ...

Adiposidade em pacientes tratados por câncer na infância: entendendo a fisiopatologia da obesidade [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
As childhood cancer treatment has become more effective, survival rates have improved, and a number of complications have been described while many of these patients reach adulthood. Obesity is a well-recognized late effect, and its metabolic effects may

Extracellular Vesicles Modulation by an Adiponectin Receptor Agonist Provides Cardioprotection for Myocardial Ischemic Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that ALY688, a drug mimicking the heart‐protective hormone adiponectin, reduces myocardial ischemia injury. ALY688 increases the production of extracellular vesicles, which carry protective cargo including adiponectin itself.

Airborne 1O2 Delivery via a Superhydrophobic Dressing as a Pathway to Next‐Generation Wound Therapies, an in Vivo Murine Burn Model Study

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of the SH bandage placed on an infected burn wound and its role in wound healing. A superhydrophobic PDMS membrane coated with the PS verteporfin is placed over the wound area and illuminated with a red laser at 690 nm, generating airborne 1O2 above the tissue.

Novel regulator of acylated ghrelin, CF801, reduces weight gain, rebound feeding after a fast, and adiposity in mice

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2015
Ghrelin is a 28 amino-acid hormonal peptide that is intimately related to the regulation of food intake and body weight. Once secreted, ghrelin binds to the growth hormone secretagogue receptor-1a (GHSR-1a), the only known receptor for ghrelin and is ...
