ARF1 prevents aberrant type I interferon induction by regulating STING activation and recycling

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Type I interferon (IFN) signalling is tightly controlled. Upon recognition of DNA by cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS), stimulator of interferon genes (STING) translocates along the endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-Golgi axis to induce IFN signalling. Termination

Salmonella enterica serovar typhi limits the potency of typhoid toxin and ADP‐ribosylating toxin AB to establish a persistent infection

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The two catalytic subunits of typhoid toxin dissociate from the holotoxin in the ER of an intoxicated cell, but only CdtB exits the ER to generate immunosuppressive effects. PltA is retained in the ER and sequestered from its cytosolic target, thus allowing the anti‐inflammatory effects of CdtB to promote intestinal colonization.

The olfactory receptor OR51E2 activates ERK1/2 through the Golgi-localized Gβγ-PI3Kγ-ARF1 pathway in prostate cancer cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2022
The olfactory receptor OR51E2 is ectopically expressed in prostate tissues and regulates prostate cancer progression, but its function and regulation in oncogenic mitogen-activate protein kinase (MAPK) activation are poorly defined.

Chronobiology of Cancer: How Aging Fuels Oncogenesis at the Molecular Level

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract illustrates the key biological pathways linking aging with cancer development and progression. In the upper left, cumulative exposure to ultraviolet radiation, toxins, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) causes DNA damage and genomic instability, whereas age‐related decline in repair mechanisms, such as ATM/ATR, BER, and NER ...

The PARP1-Siah1 Axis Controls HIV-1 Transcription and Expression of Siah1 Substrates

open access: yesCell Reports, 2018
Summary: Recent studies have revealed a key role of PARP1 that catalyzes the poly-ADP-ribosylation (PARylation) of substrates in regulating gene transcription. We show here that HIV-1 transcriptional activation also requires PARP1 activity.

Validation of reference genes as an internal control for studying Avena sativa–Puccinia coronata interaction by RT-qPCR

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
In this study we evaluated eleven candidate reference genes in Avena sativa during compatible and incompatible interactions with two different pathotypes of Puccinia coronata f. sp. avenae in six time points post-inoculation.

Early Retinal UCHL1 Dysregulation Coupled With Synaptic Loss Reflects Alzheimer's Disease Severity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies synapse‐enriched deubiquitinase UCHL1 as an early Aβ‐responsive regulator of retinal synaptopathy in Alzheimer's disease. Retinal UCHL1 loss accompanies excitatory synapse degeneration, p75NTR activation, and neuroinflammation, and predicts Braak stage and cognitive decline. Aβ42 fibrils trigger synaptic and UCHL1 depletion before

HPF1/C4orf27 is a PARP-1-interacting protein that regulates PARP-1 ADP-ribosylation activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We report the identification of histone PARylation factor 1 (HPF1; also known as C4orf27) as a regulator of ADP-ribosylation signaling in the DNA damage response.

The Role and Antagonistic Effects of miR-16-5p in the Regulation of ADP-Ribosylation Factor-Like Tumor Suppressor Gene 1 in Lung Cancer Cells

open access: yes, 2023
Objective: ADP-ribosylation factor-like tumor suppressor gene 1 is a member of the Ras superfamily of small guanosine triphosphatases that are known to be involved in multiple regulatory pathways in the multistage development of human cancers.

ADP ribosylation factor-like GTPase 6-interacting protein 5 (ARL6IP5): a prenylated Rab acceptor protein 1 (PRA1) family protein that shapes the ER membrane and regulates ER-phagy

open access: yesAutophagy Reports
The prenylated Rab acceptor protein 1 (PRA1) domain is a conserved domain encompassing four transmembrane domains (TMDs). ARL6IP5 (ADP ribosylation factor-like GTPase 6-interacting protein 5) is a member of the PRA1 family and interacts with the ...
