A Primate‐Specific lncRNA LINC01021 Contributes to Cellular and Organismal Aging via DAZAP1‐Dependent Destabilization of RBMX

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 7, July 2026.
Primate‐specific lncRNA LINC01021 promotes aging by enhancing cellular senescence and accelerating aspects of organismal decline. Mechanistically, LINC01021 induces DAZAP1‐mediated destabilization of RBMX, activating the P53 pathway and establishing a primate‐specific regulatory axis in aging.

Hyperaldosteronism in the Pathophysiology and Management of Cardiovascular‐Kidney‐Metabolic Syndrome

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 7, Page 5463-5475, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Cardiovascular‐kidney‐metabolic (CKM) syndrome is defined by the pathologic interconnections between obesity, diabetes, chronic kidney disease and cardiovascular disease. An important and underrecognized pathophysiologic factor underlying CKM syndrome is obesity‐induced aldosterone excess.

CORTICOSTEROID RELEASE AND SYNTHESIS IN VITRO BY ADRENAL SLICES FROM PATIENTS WITH CUSHING'S SYNDROME *

open access: yes, 1961
Histological methods cannot accurately assess the functional capacity of the human adrenal cortex. About 36 per cent of patients with Cushing's syndrome are reported to have adrenal glands normal in weight and histological appearance (1, 2). Adrenal

Integrated Transcriptomics Reveals Evolutionary Trajectories and Cell Density‐Dependent Mechanisms in Aldosterone‐Producing Adenomas

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 32, 9 June 2026.
Aldosterone‐producing adenomas (APAs) develop via two distinct paths: directly from adrenal zona glomerulosa (zG) cells, or stepwise from zG cells through aldosterone‐producing micronodules (APMs) before progressing to APAs. Advanced single‐cell and spatial analyses identified distinct cell states linked to oxidative stress and cell–cell interactions ...

How loneliness and social isolation are linked to cognitive decline among older adults? A systematic review of underlying physiological and psychobehavioral mechanisms

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Despite empirical evidence linking loneliness and social isolation to cognitive decline (CD) in later life, the underlying physiological and psychobehavioral mechanisms remain unclear. We conducted a systematic review to synthesize relevant evidence.

Redirecting Alzheimer's disease therapeutics: Multitarget drugs and complementary non‐pharmacological strategies

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a multifactorial neurodegenerative disorder driven by intersecting pathological processes. Persistent attrition in AD drug‐development pipelines highlights the limited clinical impact of single‐target therapies and has increased interest in multi‐target approaches acting on shared biological hubs.

Neurocognitive Aging Following Acute Illness: Pathobiology and a Framework for Developing Neurotherapeutic Agents

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
In this review, we discuss the scientific basis for how neurocognitive aging occurs after critical illness, including sepsis, trauma, and burns, and the clinical need to develop therapies to reduce inflammation, protect the blood–brain barrier, remove senescent cells, and enhance neuroplasticity.

A Diagnostic Pitfall of Primary Aldosteronism Presenting as Recurrent Quadriparesis: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Quadriparesis refers to weakness affecting all four limbs. While most cases are neurogenic in origin, stemming from central or peripheral nervous system pathology, non‐neurogenic causes are less common and often under‐recognized. These include systemic or metabolic conditions that secondarily impair neuromuscular function.
