Late expression of alpha 2-adrenergic-mediated antilipolysis during differentiation of hamster preadipocytes.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1991
In order to study the ontogenesis of the beta- and alpha 2-adrenergic control of lipolysis during the adipose conversion process, a model based on preadipocytes isolated from the stromal-vascular fraction of hamster adipose tissue was developed.

Human fat cell beta-adrenergic receptors: beta-agonist-dependent lipolytic responses and characterization of beta-adrenergic binding sites on human fat cell membranes with highly selective beta 1-antagonists.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1988
Beta-adrenergic receptors were characterized in human fat cell membranes using 125I-labeled cyanopindolol (125I-labeled CYP) and highly selective beta 1-antagonists. The iodinated radioligand bound saturably and specifically to a single class of high affinity binding sites.

Microenvironmental Reprogramming by 3D Anisotropic Cardiac Extracellular Matrix Induces Nuclear Remodeling and Epigenetic Maturation of Chemically Induced Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D anisotropic hydrogel derived from heart extracellular matrix guides cytoskeletal alignment and nuclear remodeling in reprogrammed cardiomyocyte‐like cells. This study reveals how matrix alignment modulates nuclear envelope dynamics and chromatin state, triggering transcriptional and functional maturation.

A Novel Class of “Super‐Strained” Spiro Heterocycles: Gateway to 1‐Azaspiro[3.3]heptane Derivatives, and Biological Validation

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A new class of “super‐strained” spiro heterocycles—spirocyclic 1‐azabicyclo[1.1.0]butanes—was synthesized via insertion of cyclobutane‐, oxetane‐, and azetidine‐containing sulfonium reagents into substituted azirines. The stability of this new class of compounds was studied.

Beta 2-adrenergic pathway combats Alzheimer’s disease: Restoring cognition and synaptic integrity

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research
Alzheimer’s disease is typified by amyloid-beta oligomer-mediated synaptic disruption, neuroinflammation, and mitochondrial loss of function, culminating in cognitive decline.

Cost-effectiveness of glaucoma management with monotherapy medications in Egypt

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Pharmaceutical Technology & Research, 2017
Glaucoma is a serious chronic ophthalmic disease since it causes irreversible visual disability if untreated can lead to blindness. Treatment options include medications (classified into five major classes of drugs which are muscarinic cholinergic ...

Beta-agonist- and prostaglandin E1-induced translocation of the beta-adrenergic receptor kinase: evidence that the kinase may act on multiple adenylate cyclase-coupled receptors.

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1986
beta-Adrenergic receptor kinase (beta-AR kinase) is a cytosolic enzyme that phosphorylates the beta-adrenergic receptor only when it is occupied by an agonist [Benovic, J. Strasser, R. H., Caron, M. G. & Lefkowitz, R. J. (1986) Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci.

Bioprinting High‐Cell‐Density Cardiac Tissue Constructs With Sustained Contractile Function

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Contractile cardiomyocytes in 3D culture provide insights into the behavior of the heart. Combining a 3D bioprinting approach with a multi‐electrode array allows the development of the 3D culture to be monitored over time, and matured cultures allow the effect of drugs on cardiac function to be modelled, replicating effects seen in clinical application.

Patient‐Derived 3D Heart‐On‐a‐Chip Model of Dilated Cardiomyopathy With Embedded Bead‐Based Mapping of Tissue Contractility

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A heart‐on‐a‐chip model of dilated cardiomyopathy is developed from patient‐derived induced pluripotent stem cells. The model recapitulates key disease phenotypes and enables functional assessment through integrated bead‐based tracking and pillar deflection measurements.

Light‐Driven Quadrupedal Walking Biohybrid Robot With Antagonistic Muscle‐Rings and Inclined Joints

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work presents a light‐driven quadrupedal walking biohybrid robot powered by antagonistic muscle‐rings that achieve alternating walking gait. Optical training improved reproducibility of cultured muscle tissues, while caffeine treatment enhanced contractile force.
