ADRENOCORTICAL FUNCTION TESTS IN DOGS WITH HYPERFUNCTIONING ADRENOCORTICAL TUMOURS

Journal of Endocrinology, 1979
The response has been studied in nine dogs with hyperadrenocorticism due to adrenocortical tumours to the administration of dexamethasone, insulin, lysine-vasopressin and tetracosactide by measuring the changes in plasma cortisol concentration. Administration of dexamethasone did not produce a decrease in the plasma concentration of cortisol in any of ...

URINARY 6β-HYDROXYCORTISOL IN ADRENOCORTICAL HYPERFUNCTION*†

Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, 1961
Three patients with abnormal amounts of 6β-hydroxycortisol in the urine are presented. In 2 of these patients, adrenal hyperplasia was found at autopsy. The third patient had Cushing-like clinical symptoms, and an adrenal adenoma was found at operation; in this case, although the excretion of 6β-hydroxycortisol was elevated, the urinary alpha-ketolic ...

Metabolic Studies in a Case of Adrenocortical Hyperfunction Associated with Carcinoma of the Lung

Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, 1964
Sodium and potassium balances and indices of acid-base metabolism have been studied in a patient with carcinoma of the lung associated with adrenal cortical hyperfunction and hypokalemic alkalosis. Alkalemia persisted in spite of the retention of 1300 mEq potassium. After initial fluctuations the urine pH remained persistently between 5.2 and 6.0.
