Gene Transfer of Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide Inhibits Macrophages and Inflammatory Mediators in Vein Graft Disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Vein graft disease is a chronic inflammatory disease and limits the late results of coronary revascularization. Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) inhibits macrophages infiltrated and inflammatory mediators, we hypothesized that transfected CGRP gene

Atrial fibrillation impairs the diagnostic performance of cardiac natriuretic peptides in dyspneic patients. results from the BACH Study (Biomarkers in ACute Heart Failure) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of atrial fibrillation (AF) on the performance of mid-region amino terminal pro-atrial natriuretic peptide (MR-proANP) in comparison with the B-type peptides (BNP and NT-proBNP) for diagnosis

Pharmacophore‐Based Identification and Molecular Characterization of Potent Neprilysin Inhibitors: Biochemical and Therapeutic Implications for Cardiovascular Diseases

open access: yesChemical Biology &Drug Design, Volume 107, Issue 2, February 2026.
Pharmacophore‐based virtual screening and molecular dynamics identified pentagalloylglucose and tannic acid as potent, non‐toxic neprilysin inhibitors. These natural compounds demonstrated strong binding affinity and stable interactions with the catalytic Zn2+ site, offering promising leads for cardiovascular drug development. ABSTRACT Neprilysin (NEP),

The role of ubiquitination and hepatocyte growth factor-regulated tyrosine kinase substrate in the degradation of the adrenomedullin type I receptor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Calcitonin receptor-like receptor (CLR) and the receptor activity-modifying protein 2 (RAMP2) comprise a receptor for adrenomedullin (AM). Although it is known that AM induces internalization of CLR•RAMP2, little is known about the molecular mechanisms ...

Subventricular Zone‐on‐a‐Chip: A Model to Study Neurogenesis Disruption in Neonatal Intraventricular Hemorrhage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 3, 14 January 2026.
A human subventricular zone‐on‐a‐chip is developed to model intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) in preterm infants. This platform enables the study of inflammation‐driven neurogenic disruption. Exposure to hemorrhagic cerebrospinal fluid and red blood cell lysate activated inflammatory pathways, with IL1B emerging as a key mediator.

Adrenomedullin and diabetes

open access: yesWorld Journal of Diabetes, 2014
Adrenomedullin (ADM) is a peptide hormone widely expressed in different tissues, especially in the vasculature. Apart from its vasodilatatory and hypotensive effect, it plays multiple roles in the regulation of hormonal secretion, glucose metabolism and inflammatory response.

Prediction of cardiovascular disease risk by cardiac biomarkers in 2 United Kingdom cohort studies: does utility depend on risk thresholds for treatment? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We tested the predictive ability of cardiac biomarkers N-terminal pro B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), high-sensitivity troponin T, and midregional pro adrenomedullin for cardiovascular disease (CVD) events using the British Regional Heart Study ...

An RNA vaccine against adrenomedullin reduces angiogenesis and tumor burden in a syngeneic metastatic melanoma mouse model

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
IntroductionAdrenomedullin (AM) is an autocrine/paracrine growth factor as well as a crucial regulator of angiogenesis and immune response. AM is overexpressed by most solid tumors, which makes it a good target for anti-tumor therapy.MethodsIn this study,

Gamma-glutamyl transferase level predicts the development of hypertension in Hong Kong Chinese [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Introduction: Liver enzymes are elevated in cardiometabolic diseases, particularly when there is non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. We therefore investigated if hypertension is associated with elevated levels of alkaline phosphatase (ALP), alanine ...

protection by adrenomedullin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI) contributes to morbidity and mortality in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Particularly pre-injured lungs are susceptible to VILI despite protective ventilation. In a previous study, the endogenous peptide
