Adrenomedullin in Heart Failure
Patients with heart failure have frequently been reported to show elevated levels of plasma adrenomedullin. These levels generally correlate with severity of hemodynamic dysfunction and also with neurohormonal indices which are activated according to the severity of heart failure.

Adrenomedullin and organ protection
アドレノメデュリンは我が国で発見された降圧ペプチドであるが, 最近では抗酸化作用を含めた pleiotropic effect が注目されている, 各種基礎検討特にノックアウトマウスの解析から, アドレノメデュリンの臓器保護作用や生殖系への作用を有することが明らかとなった. さらにホモロジー検索から新たなペプチドが発見されている. SNP解析も行われており, 疾患との関連性が明らかにされることが期待される. さらに, 最近では臨床応用として体液量の指標としての測定意義や, 動物実験で証明された臓器保護作用をヒトに応用する臨床検討が進行している. アドレノメデュリンは今後のさらなる発展が期待されるペプチドである.
