Adsorption of aflatoxin B1 to corn by-products [PDF]
The adsorption of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) to natural fiber materials prepared from corn by-products was investigated in this study. The results showed that corn cob powder (CCP) dose, particle size, time (0.25-24 h), temperature (4, 20, 37, 50 and 100 °C) and pH (2-8), had significant effects on adsorption.

Summary Cattle, sheep, poultry and swine feeds, protein concentrates, mineral, vitamin and antibiotic mixtures, Mikro and Polfamix additives, components, and other feeds (306 samples) were qualitatively and quantitatively investigated for the presence of aflatoxins. Out of all the samples aflatoxin contamination was found in 12.7% of assays. Poultry

Binding of aflatoxin B1 to melanin
Food and Chemical Toxicology, 1988Whole-body autoradiography of pigmented C57BL mice injected with 3H-labelled aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) showed a high degree of labelling of melanin-containing tissues, such as the melanin of eyes and hair follicles. The corresponding tissues in albino NMRI mice contained only low amounts of the label. Liquid chromatography of extracts of pigmented mouse eyes

Activation and detoxication of aflatoxin B1
Mutation Research - Fundamental and Molecular Mechanisms of Mutagenesis, 1998Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is a potent hepatocarcinogen in experimental animals and a hazard to human health in several parts of the world. Implementation of rational intervention plans requires understanding of aspects of the roles of individual chemical steps involved in its disposition. AFB1 is activated to AFB1 exo-8,9-epoxide primarily by cytochrome P450

Fungistatic action of aflatoxin B1
