The neurotoxicity of aflatoxin B1 in the rat
Toxicology, 1983The effects of repeated intraperitoneal administration of aflatoxin B1 on the peripheral and central nervous systems of rats were investigated. Biochemical markers of neurotoxicity were monitored in nervous tissues following aflatoxin B1 dosage and after the cessation of aflatoxin B1 administration.

Aflatoxin B1. CHC13 forms orthorhombic crystals of space group P212121 with four molecules in the unit cell of dimensions a= 6.16, b= 8.04 and c= 36.25 A. The orientation of the aflatoxin B1 molecule was found by means of a minimum function, calculated for two intramolecular vectors between light atoms; its position was determined by calculating the ...

Antineoplastic Activity of Aflatoxin B1
Nature, 1968THE aflatoxins, a group of related mycotoxins produced by Aspergillus flavus, have been extensively evaluated for biological activity. They are carcinogenic in animals1–5. The aflatoxin B1 fraction has been teratogenic in hamsters6, probably mutagenic in micro-organisms7 and caused chromosome breakage in mammalian cell cultures7,8.

Fungal degradation of aflatoxin B1
Natural Toxins, 1999A number of fungal cultures were screened to select an organism suitable to be used in the detoxification of aflatoxin B1. They were co-cultured in Czapek-Dox-Casamino acid medium with aflatoxin B1 producing Aspergillus flavus. Several fungal cultures were found to prevent synthesis of aflatoxin B1 in liquid culture medium. Among these Phoma sp., Mucor

Biological detoxification of Aflatoxin B1 by Bacillus licheniformis CFR1
Aflatoxin B1 is the most harmful among the mycotoxins commonly present in food and feed, and it may lead to hepatocellular carcinoma in humans and animals. Therefore, limiting its exposure to humans and livestock is very much essential. The present study

Residues of aflatoxin B1 in broiler meat: Effect of age and dietary aflatoxin B1 levels
Food and Chemical Toxicology, 2010This study describes the effect of dietary levels of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) and age of the birds upon the residue level in liver and muscles of broiler chicks. In three different experiments broiler chicks of 7, 14 and 28 days of age were kept for 7 days on contaminated rations having 1600, 3200 and 6400 μg/kg AFB1.

Fluorescence changes of aflatoxins B1 and G1
Zeitschrift für Lebensmittel-Untersuchung und -Forschung, 1975The effects of various factors, such as pH, buffer, sodiumchloride and ultra-violet radiation on the fluorescence of aflatoxins B1 and G1 have been studied. The fluorescence characteristics of aflatoxins B1 and G1 underwent a marked change at pH values above 7.2.

Effects of aflatoxin B1 on myelopoiesis in vitro
Toxicology, 1991The short-term cultures of mouse myeloid progenitor cells for granulocytes and monocytes, granulocyte-monocyte colony-forming units (CFU-GM) (CFU-GM assay) and mouse long-term bone marrow culture (LTBMC) were used to investigate the hemopoietic suppression caused by aflatoxin B1 (AFB1).

Thermal stability of aflatoxin B1 and ochratoxin A
Mycotoxin Research, 2008Within this research project, the LCI (Lebensmittelchemisches Institut des Bundesverbandes der Deutschen Süßwarenindustrie e. V.) conducted systematic studies to determine the thermal stability of the mycotoxins ochratoxin A (OTA) and aflatoxin B1, as the available literature provides contradictory data.

Photophysics and photochemistry of aflatoxins B1 and B2
Photochemical & Photobiological Sciences, 2011Aflatoxins are mycotoxins produced by fungi of the genus Aspergillus, which is widely spread in the tropics and subtropics. To date, aflatoxin phototoxicity has been recognized, but the mechanism responsible for this phototoxicity has not been fully characterized.
