Metabolism of aflatoxin B1 by the guinea-pig
Food and Cosmetics Toxicology, 1973Abstract Aflatoxin B 1 was given by ip injection to year-old female guinea-pigs and 6 hr later aflatoxin B 1 and its metabolites were recovered and isolated chromatographically. Approximately 14% of the administered toxin was represented by the isolated compounds.

Inactivation of aflatoxin b1 mutagenicity by thiols
Food and Chemical Toxicology, 1982The mutagenicity of aflatoxin B1 to Salmonella typhimurium strain TA98 decreased rapidly upon exposure of aflatoxin B1 to various thiols in aqueous solution. Mutagenic activity was reduced to control values within 24 hr with N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC), N-2-mercaptopropionylglycine (MPG), mercaptoethanol, reduced glutathione or mercaptopropionic acid at ...

Excretion of Aflatoxin B1 as a glutathione conjugate
European Journal of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics, 1981Intraperitoneal injection of 3H - GSH (15.4 mg, 0,5 microCi) 15 minutes before a similar i.p. treatment with Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) (2mg/kg) showed less than 40% of the radioactivity in the 24 h urine and 30-35% in the bile. Analysis of the urine and bile samples by TLC and separation with XAD-2, showed only traces of the AFB1 - GSH adduct present in the ...
