Potential Harmful Effects of Aflatoxin M1 in Milk and Milk Products and Novel Methods to Reduction of Aflatoxin M1: A Review

open access: yes, 2023
Dairy products are rich sources of vitamins, proteins and calcium that are vital to the human body. Aflatoxin M1 is a hydroxylated metabolite of aflatoxin B1. The presence of this toxin in milk has caused serious concern among nutritionists.

Excretion of Aflatoxin M1 in milk of goats fed diet contaminated by Aflatoxin B1

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2010
An experiment was carried out to study the excretion of aflatoxin M1(AFM1) in milk of three goats fed a single dose (0.8mg/head) of pure aflatoxin B1 (AFB1).

Degradation of Aflatoxin M1 in Milk by Ultraviolet Energy

open access: yesJournal of Food Protection, 1985
Raw whole milk was artificially contaminated with 0.5 or 1 ppb aflatoxin M1. Contaminated milk was exposed to UV-irradiation from different sources and under different experimental conditions. In all instances, exposure to UV-irradiation caused aflatoxin M1 in milk to degrade.

Rapid and ultrasensitive method for determination of aflatoxin M1 in milk

open access: yesFood and Agricultural Immunology, 2020
Aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) in milk is a problem of great concern. Current methods of detection require large instruments and need specific test sites. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a fast, convenient, and accurate detection method for AFM1.

Determination of aflatoxin M1 presence and concentration in Van Herby cheese

open access: yes
Aflatoxins are considered the most toxic secondary metabolites of concern to food safety due to their wide distribution and high toxicity in foods and feeds. The aim of this study is to identify the prevalence of aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) in Van Herby cheeses (

Production and Isolation of Aflatoxin M1 for Toxicological Studies

open access: yesJournal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL, 1986
Abstract One hundred mg aflatoxin Mi was produced and purified for toxicological studies. Aspergillus flams NRRL 3251 was cultured on rice to produce aflatoxins B1, B2, M1, and M2. B1 and B2 were separated from M1 and M2 by a normal phase low pressure liquid chromatography (LC) column. M1 was then separated from M2 by a reverse phase low
