Target Capture Sequencing Provides Insights Into Hybridogenetic Water Frogs

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 5, -Not available-.
The genomics of European frogs of the genus Pelophylax are intriguing due to their propensity to hybridise, the prevalence of polyploidy, and the unusual hemiclonal hybridogenetic complexes formed in many populations. This study examines the use of target capture sequencing using the Frog Cap bait set to investigate these complex systems.

Comparative Analysis of Genetic Similarity between Perennial Ryegrass Genotypes Investigated With AFLPs, ISSRs, RAPDs and SSRs

open access: yesCzech Journal of Genetics and Plant Breeding, 2006
Perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) is the most important grass species used in temperate grassland agriculture. Our objective was to obtain an overview of the genetic relationships between 20 individual genotypes of perennial ryegrass of diverse ...

Resistance to frost and tuber soft rot in near-pentaploid Solanum tuberosum - S. commersonii hybrids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The objectives of the present study were to evaluate the tolerance to low temperatures and tuber soft rot in sexual near-pentaploid hybrids between incongruent 2x (1EBN) Solanum commersonii (CMM) and 4x (4EBN) S. tuberosum (TBR). For freezing resistance,

Carrier screening in the reproductive setting—Are there medical implications for the heterozygote?—A guide for clinicians

open access: yesPregnancy, Volume 2, Issue 3, May 2026.
Abstract Carrier screening for genetic conditions performed preconception or during pregnancy allows identification of fetal risk for inherited autosomal recessive and X‐linked conditions. The goal is to identify at‐risk patients/couples and offer them reproductive options such as preimplantation genetic diagnosis, prenatal testing, or targeted newborn

Pinniped phylogenetic relationships inferred using AFLP markers [PDF]

open access: yesHeredity, 2009
Amplified fragment length polymorphisms (AFLPs) are widely used for phylogenetic reconstruction in plants but their use in animal taxa has been limited, and in mammals rare. In addition, their use has been largely limited to shallow relationships amongst species or subspecies. Here, we genotype 23 pinniped species for 310 AFLP markers and find a strong

A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis on Campylobacter Species Prevalence in Chicken in Italy

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 3, May 2026.
• This systematic review summarizes the prevalence of Campylobacter spp. in different chicken matrices in Italy over the last 20 years, which may be useful for conducting quantitative microbial risk assessment in the future. • Higher Campylobacter spp.

Mycotoxin production, chemotypes and diversity of Czech Fusarium graminearum isolates on wheat

open access: yesCzech Journal of Food Sciences, 2013
Fusarium head blight (FHB) is a serious cereal disease in the CzechRepublic. The most important pathogen associated with FBH is Fusarium graminearum, which can produce trichothecenes, mainly deoxynivalenol (DON) and its derivates.
