Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN NURSING AND ELDERLY CARE STUDENTS’ ATTITUDES TOWARDS AGEISM

open access: yesBelitung Nursing Journal, 2017
Background: Perceptions of individuals and society about the elderly are reflected in the services provided to them. These reflections might be revealed in various fields such as health care services and sufficient job opportunities, or they could be ...

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

AI ageism and its consequence: Benevolent ageist attitudes expressed by LLMs could reinforce ageism in humans

open access: yesComputers in Human Behavior Reports
Background and objectives: Large language models (LLMs) can generate biased content, potentially reinforcing negative social attitudes. The present study investigates ageist attitudes embedded in LLMs and their influence on human attitudes following ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Ageism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This work discusses a problem of ageism also known as age discrimination. At first is explained demographic aging and its impact on the society. Then is defined a conception of the ageism and its resources: panic from demography, medial presentation of ...

The Status of Ageism in Caring for Elderly Patients From Nurses’ Perspective

open access: yesJournal of Client-centered Nursing Care, 2020
Background: As the number of elderly people referred to hospitals increases, so does the number of discrimination reports in the care of the elderly, compared with younger people. This study aimed to investigate the status of ageism in caring for elderly

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated
