AKT signaling mediates IGF-I survival actions on otic neural progenitors
Background: Otic neurons and sensory cells derive from common progenitors whose transition into mature cells requires the coordination of cell survival, proliferation and differentiation programmes.

Lukijatutkimus AKT-lehdelle [PDF]
Järjestölehdille on erityisen tärkeää tuntea lukijakuntansa, sekä mitä he haluavat lehdeltä. Tutkimalla lehden lukijoita ja palautetta keräämällä pyritään tilanteeseen, jossa lehden lukijat ovat mahdollisimman tyytyväisiä.

ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Akt suppresses DLK for maintaining self-renewal of mouse embryonic stem cells
Mouse embryonic stem cells (ES cells) can proliferate indefinitely. To identify potential signals involved in suppression of self-renewal, we previously screened a kinase/phosphatase expression library in ES cells, and observed that inhibition of Dual ...

Fos co-operation with PTEN loss elicits keratoacanthoma not carcinoma due to p53/p21WAF-induced differentiation triggered by GSK3b inactivation and reduced AKT activity [PDF]
To investigate gene synergism in multistage skin carcinogenesis, the RU486-inducible cre/lox system was employed to ablate PTEN function [K14.cre/D5PTENflx] in mouse epidermis expressing activated v-fos [HK1.fos].

5‐Aminolevulinic acid combined with ferric ammonium citrate (5‐ALA/FAC) stimulates dermal papilla cell activity and promotes hair follicle growth. The treatment enhances ERK and AKT signaling, increases hair‐inductive gene expression, and restores dermal papilla function suppressed by dihydrotestosterone and oxidative stress, resulting in enhanced hair

TLR3-mediated apoptosis and activation of phosphorylated Akt in the salivary gland epithelial cells of primary Sjögren’s syndrome patients [PDF]
This study aimed at ascertain whether innate immunity is involved in the apoptosis of primary cultured salivary gland epithelial cells (SGECs) in primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS). Induction of apoptosis of SGECs was performed using a TLR3 ligand, poly (I:

Phosphorylation of Akt at the C-terminal tail triggers Akt Activation [PDF]
Aberrant hyper-activation of the protein kinase Akt plays a critical role in promoting tumorigenesis. Mechanistically, previous studies establish that phosphorylation of Akt at S473 and T308 by mTORC2 and PDK1, respectively, is necessary for its full activation, thereby having been used as Akt activation markers.
