Generation of non-stabilized alkyl radicals from thianthrenium salts for C–B and C–C bond formation

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
The generation of non-stabilized alkyl radicals from sulfonium salts has been a challenge for several decades. Here, the authors show the treatment of S-(alkyl) thianthrenium salts, which can generate non-stabilized alkyl radicals as key intermediates ...

Lipase-Assisted Synthesis of Alkyl Stearates: Optimization by Taguchi Design of Experiments and Application as Defoamers

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
The present work proposes the optimization of enzymatic synthesis of alkyl stearates using stearic acid, alkyl alcohols (C1-OH, C2-OH, C4-OH, C8-OH and C16-OH) and Candida rugosa lipase by a L9 (34) Taguchi-type design of experiments. Four variables were

Alkylation of Dihydrofullerenes [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2002
The fulleride dianions C(60)(2-) and C(70)(2-) were generated by deprotonation of the corresponding hydrogenated fullerenes, 1,2-C(60)H(2) and 1,2-C(70)H(2). These anions were prepared in the presence of a variety of alkylating agents, and mono- or dialkylated products were obtained. Alkylation was not successful with sulfonate ester alkylating agents.

Aminoalkyl radicals as halogen-atom transfer agents for activation of alkyl and aryl halides

open access: yesScience, 2020
Amines as a gateway to alkyl radicals In recent years, photoredox catalysis driven by blue light has often been used to oxidize carbon centers adjacent to nitrogen. Constantin et al.

Surface mobility and structural transitions of poly(n-alkyl methacrylates) probed by dynamic contact angle measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
Dynamic contact angles and contact-angle hysteresis of a series of poly(n-alkyl methacrylates) (PAMA) were investigated using the Wilhelmy plate technique.

Generation of Alkyl Radicals: From the Tyranny of Tin to the Photon Democracy

open access: yesChemical Reviews, 2020
Alkyl radicals are key intermediates in organic synthesis. Their classic generation from alkyl halides has a severe drawback due to the employment of toxic tin hydrides to the point that “flight from the tyranny of tin” in radical processes was ...

Electrochemical halogen-atom transfer alkylation via α-aminoalkyl radical activation of alkyl iodides

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Alkyl halides, widely recognized as important building blocks and reagents in organic synthesis, can serve as versatile alkyl radical precursors in radical-based transformations.

Alkyl Carbon-Carbon Bond Formation by Nickel/Photoredox Cross-Coupling.

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, 2019
The union of photoredox and nickel catalysis has resulted in a renaissance in radical chemistry as well as in the use of nickel-catalyzed transformations, specifically for carbon-carbon bond formation.
