Allantoin content in lichens depends on anthropopressure level
Allantoin has been detected in several plant families but only few papers reported its presence in lichens. The 18 from 21 lichen species we tested contained detectable amount of allantoin with a range of 0.005–13.4 mg/g DW.

The identification and quantification of bioactive compounds from the aqueous extract of comfrey root by UHPLC-DAD-HESI-MS method and its microbial activity [PDF]
In this study the qualitative, quantitative and microbial determination of the aqueous extract of comfrey root was done. The qualitative and quantitative analyses were done by the UHPLC-DAD-HESI-MS method. As major bioactive compounds, allantoin,

Allantoin improves histopathological evaluations in a rat model of gastritis [PDF]
Purpose Gastritis is found to be one of the most common gastrointestinal diseases worldwide. However, current therapeutic agents cause side effects, interaction, and recurrence. Allantoin has anti-inflammatory and wound healing properties. In this study,

Reaction Mechanism and Catalytic Fingerprint of Allantoin Racemase
The stereospecific oxidative decomposition of urate into allantoin is the core of purine catabolism in many organisms. The spontaneous decomposition of upstream intermediates and the nonenzymatic racemization of allantoin lead to an accumulation of (R ...

Biosynthesis of Radioactive Allantoin.
Summary1. A convenient method for the isolation of allantoin from the urine of rats has been developed. 2. The carbon of sodium bicarbonate is not incorporated in the urinary allantoin of rats. This result is in accord with the fact that bicarbonate is incorporated only into position 6 of purines. 3.

Estimation of allantoin flux using continuous infusion of [14C]allantoin: sensitivity to plasma loading with unlabelled allantoin [PDF]
Allantoin net flux through the plasma allantoin compartment was determined in sheep given a roughage diet by means of a continuous infusion of [4,5-14C]allantoin for 17 h. Unlabelled allantoin was infused intravenously during the last 7 h of the tracer infusion to increase the allantoin flux by approximately 75 %. When unlabelled allantoin was infused,
