Allantoin transport in Saccharomyces cerevisiae [PDF]
Allantoin uptake in both growing and resting cultures of Saccharomyces cerevisiae occurs by a low-Km (ca. 15 micrometer) transport system that uses energy that is likely generated in the cytoplasm. This conclusion was based on the observation that transport did not occur in the absence of glucose or the presence of dinitrophenol, carbonyl cyanide-m ...

Wettability of saliva substitutes across various denture base fabrication techniques
Abstract Purpose The present study evaluated the contact angles (CAs) of four denture base materials subjected to different surface treatments using deionized water and saliva substitutes. Material and Methods A total of 32 rectangular specimens were manufactured using four different denture base materials: heat‐cured compression molded Lucitone 199 (C)

Novel Amino Acid Changes Increase Phosphoenolpyruvate Carboxylase Output in planta
ABSTRACT Characterization of previously reported Arabidopsis mutants with increased aluminum (Al) resistance (alr) resulting from greater release of Al‐chelating malate identified three unique amino acid substitutions that each impacts PHOSPHOENOLPYRUVATE CARBOXYLASE 1, a key anaplerotic carbon fixation enzyme.

Antihypertensive Action of Allantoin in Animals [PDF]
The agonists of imidazoline I-1 receptors (I-1R) are widely used to lower blood pressure. It has been indicated that guanidinium derivatives show an ability to activate imidazoline receptors. Also, allantoin has a chemical stricture similar to guanidinium derivatives. Thus, it is of special interest to characterize the effect of allantoin on I-1R.
