Enhanced mitochondrial activity reshapes a gut microbiota profile that delays NASH progression
Improved mitochondrial activity, due to the lack of methylation‐controlled J protein (MCJ), creates a specific microbiota signature that when transferred through cecal microbiota transplantation delays NASH progression by restoring the gut‐liver axis and enhancing hepatic fatty acid oxidation.

Allantoin is an emerging plant metabolite, but its role in conferring drought-induced oxidative stress is still elusive. Therefore, an experiment was devised to explore the role of allantoin (0.5 and 1.0 mM; foliar spray) in rapeseed (Brassica campestris

Allantoin improves methionine-choline deficient diet-induced nonalcoholic steatohepatitis in mice through involvement in endoplasmic reticulum stress and hepatocytes apoptosis-related genes expressions [PDF]
Objective(s): Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is defined by steatosis and inflammation in the hepatocytes, which can progress to cirrhosis and possibly hepatocellular carcinoma. However, current treatments are not entirely effective.

Opposite fates of the purine metabolite allantoin under water and nitrogen limitations in bread wheat [PDF]
Key message: Degradation of nitrogen-rich purines is tightly and oppositely regulated under drought and low nitrogen supply in bread wheat. Allantoin is a key target metabolite for improving nitrogen homeostasis under stress.

The In Vitro Wound-Scratch Assay: Applications, Technical Advances, and Limitations in Wound Healing Research. [PDF]
ABSTRACT The wound‐scratch assay is a widely used in vitro model for studying collective cell migration, a fundamental process contributing to wound closure and re‐epithelialisation. Owing to its simplicity, low cost, and adaptability, it has become a foundational tool for early‐stage wound‐healing research and therapeutic screening. The assay involves

The Effect of Allantoin on Chronic Perforation of Rat Tympanic Membrane
OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of topical allantoin application on wound healing in a rat chronic tympanic membrane perforation (TMP) model. METHODS: A chronic TMP model was established with 25 healthy, female, 6-month-old,

Gut Bacterial Species Distinctively Impact Host Purine Metabolites during Aging in Drosophila
Summary: Gut microbiota impacts the host metabolome and affects its health span. How bacterial species in the gut influence age-dependent metabolic alteration has not been elucidated. Here we show in Drosophila melanogaster that allantoin, an end product
