Optimizing survival outcomes with post-remission therapy in acute myeloid leukemia. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Optimization of post-remission therapies to maintain complete remission and prevent relapse is a major challenge in treating patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).

Inhibition of CDK9 enhances AML cell death induced by combined venetoclax and azacitidine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The CDK9 inhibitor AZD4573 downregulates c‐MYC and MCL‐1 to induce death of cytarabine (AraC)‐resistant AML cells. This enhances VEN + AZA‐induced cell death significantly more than any combination of two of the three drugs in AraC‐resistant AML cells.

CD4+CD25+FOXP3+ T regulatory cells reconstitute and accumulate in the bone marrow of patients with multiple myeloma following allogeneic stem cell transplantation

open access: yesHaematologica, 2008
Background Very little is known about the number and function of immunosuppressive CD4+CD25+FOXP3+ T regulatory cells (Treg) in the human bone marrow and it is unclear whether bone marrow-residing Treg are capable of regenerating following allogeneic ...

Costs of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

open access: yesBiology of Blood and Marrow Transplantation, 2006
This study aims to determine the total costs after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (ASCT) and factors associated with increases or decreases in costs. We collected all in- and outpatient costs during 5 years in 93 patients who had undergone ASCT in 1998 and 1999 at our unit.

An injectable bone marrow-like scaffold enhances T cell immunity after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a curative treatment for multiple disorders, but deficiency and dysregulation of T cells limit its utility.

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

Therapeutic choices in patients with Ph-Positive chronic myelogenous leukemia in Mexico in the era of tyrosine kinase inhibitors: stem cell transplantation or tyrosine kinase inhibitors? Fifteen years later

open access: yesRevista de Investigación Clínica
Background: Chronic myelogenous leukemia is a neoplastic proliferation of the granulocytic series. In Mexico, chronic myelogenous leukemia accounts for approximately 10% of all leukemias.

Strength through diversity: how cancers thrive when clones cooperate

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumor heterogeneity can offer direct benefits to the tumor through cooperation between different clones. In this review, Kuiken et al. discuss existing evidence for clonal cooperativity to identify overarching principles, and highlight how novel technological developments could address remaining open questions.

Analysis of the results of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation depending on HLA matching of the unrelated donor / recipient pair

open access: yesОнкогематология, 2015
HLA matching of the donor / recipient pair is a major factor associated with the outcome of allogeneic stem cell transplantation. In the presentstudy we analyzed the risk of severe acute graft-versus-host disease, graft failure, 2.year overall survival ...
