Phosphorus and Sulfur and the Related Elements, 1982Abstract The title compounds have been pyrolyzed in a stirred-flow system, at temperatures within the range 315–418°C and pressures between 2 and 15 torr. Under these conditions, the products observed were propene and the polymers of thiomethanal, allyl thioaldehyde and benzyl thioaldehyde.

Two cyclic allylic sulfide monomers, 6-methylene-2-methyl-1,4-dithiacycloheptane (MDTP) and 7-methylene-2-methyl-1,5-dithiacyclooctane (MDTO), were copolymerized with methyl methacrylate (MMA) using the pulsed laser polymerization technique. MDTO was also copolymerized with styrene (STY) under the same conditions.

Hence, studying their photooxidation reactions with tropospheric oxidants has substantial relevance. Allyl methyl sulfide (AMS), which falls under this category, is found to be released from various sources.
