Peroxisomes and disease - an overview. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Peroxisomes are indispensable for human health and development. They represent ubiquitous subcellular organelles which compartmentalize enzymes responsible for several crucial metabolic processes such as β-oxidation of specific fatty acids, biosynthesis ...

Overview of molecular signatures of senescence and associated resources: pros and cons

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cells can enter a stress response state termed cellular senescence that is involved in various diseases and aging. Detecting these cells is challenging due to the lack of universal biomarkers. This review presents the current state of senescence identification, from biomarkers to molecular signatures, compares tools and approaches, and highlights ...

멜라토닌과 피탄산 처리에 따른 돼지 난자 및 배아 내 Nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor 2 기전 및 퍼옥시좀 활성의 관계 분석 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021

Targeting TNBC: core–shell polycationic polyurea dendrimers with inherent anticancer activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Core–shell polycationic PURE dendrimers were tested in TNBC‐derived tumor models. Both formulations selectively targeted TNBC and effectively reduced tumor volume. PUREG4‐OEI48 suppressed tumor growth without detectable toxicity, whereas PUREG4‐OCEI24, despite showing efficacy, induced hepatic toxicity.

Detoxification of lithocholic acid. Elucidation of the pathways of oxidative metabolism in rat liver microsomes.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1989
The hydroxylation of lithocholic acid (3 alpha-hydroxy-5 beta-cholanoic acid) by adult male Sprague-Dawley rat liver microsomes supplemented with NADPH was studied.

Effects of in vivo 3-iodothyronamine administration on gene expression in adipose tissue. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Thyroid hormones (THs) control the adipose tissue development and metabolism. They regulate both adipocyte proliferation and differentiation and, as they cause weight loss by increasing the metabolic rate, may be useful for obesity treatment.

DDX3X induces mesenchymal transition of endothelial cells by disrupting BMPR2 signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Elevated DDX3X expression led to downregulation of BMPR2, a key regulator of endothelial homeostasis and function. Our co‐immunoprecipitation assays further demonstrated a molecular interaction between DDX3X and BMPR2. Notably, DDX3X promoted lysosomal degradation of BMPR2, thereby impairing its downstream signaling and facilitating endothelial‐to ...

Alpha-pinene oxidation by OH: simulations of laboratory experiments [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2004
This paper presents a state-of-the-art gas-phase mechanism for the degradation of α-pinene by OH and its validation by box model simulations of laboratory measurements. It is based on the near-explicit mechanisms for the oxidation of α-pinene

Effect of dietary supplementation with alpha-tocopherol on the oxidative modification of low density lipoprotein.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1992
Much data has accumulated supporting a proatherogenic role for oxidized low density lipoprotein (Ox-LDL). Micronutrient antioxidants such as alpha-tocopherol, the principal lipid-soluble antioxidant, assume potential significance because levels can be ...

Metformin promotes mitochondrial integrity through AMPK‐signaling in Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Metformin mediates mitochondrial quality control in Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) fibroblasts carrying mtDNA mutations. At therapeutic levels, metformin activates AMPK signaling to restore mitochondrial dynamics by promoting fusion and restraining fission, while preserving mitochondrial mass, enhancing autophagy/mitophagy and biogenesis ...
