SCHWARZ ALTERNATING METHOD AND MULTIGRID METHOD

Acta Mathematica Scientia, 1987
The author considers asynchronous parallel algorithms which arise from two different combinations of the Schwarz alternating method with the multigrid method: In the first approach the original problem, the variational problem find \(u\in H\) \(1_ 0(\Omega)\) such that \(a(u,v)=(f,v)\) for all \(v\in H\) \(1_ 0(\Omega)\) is divided into p related ...

An alternative method for windup prevention

at - Automatisierungstechnik, 2021
Abstract Windup effects can be subdivided into controller windup and plant windup. Controller windup can be prevented by stabilizing the compensator during saturation and plant windup by an additional dynamic element. When using a compensating design, i.

Pulmonary Valvotomy: An Alternative Method

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1981
Abstract An alternative technique of pulmonary valvotomy for patients with pulmonary atresia and intact ventricular septum is presented. The method is simpler and safer than open valvotomy with inflow occlusion or with cardiopulmonary bypass. It is more precise and controlled than closed valvotomy.

Alternative Methods in Arterial Reconstruction

Surgical Clinics of North America, 1971
As experience in arterial reconstruction has accumulated, the segmental nature of arteriopathy has been appreciated, and standardized methods of treatment have emerged. It is thus possible for modifications of standard procedures to be contrived to fit individual situations, and these variations are the subject of this article.

Alternating Direction Methods on Multiprocessors

SIAM Journal on Scientific and Statistical Computing, 1987
We propose several implementations of the alternating direction method (ADM) for solving parabolic partial differential equations on multiprocessors. A complexity analysis of these implementations shows that the method can be made highly efficient on parallel architectures by using pipelining and variations of the classical Gaussian elimination ...

An Alternative Method to Using a Mandibulometer

Journal of Forensic Sciences, 2019
AbstractMandibular length, mandibular angle, and maximum ramus height measurements used during forensic evaluation of skeletal remains require use of a mandibulometer. This study presents a new method of taking these measurements from images, so that practitioners without access to an expensive mandibulometer or those working with 3D models (e.g., CT ...

An Alternate Method of Descenting Skunks

Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 1987
Striped skunk (Mephitis mephitis) scent glands were ligated closed with waxed dental floss to allow them to be handled during toxicological studies without fear of scenting. This descenting technique was more rapid and less traumatic than scent gland removal. Thirty-four skunks were kept for less than or equal to 127 days and did not display behavioral

An alternative DFE adaptation method

[Proceedings] ICASSP-92: 1992 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1992
The decision feedback channel equalizer (DFE) was introduced for dispersive communication channels for its better performance over the linear channel equalizer. A DFE consists of a feedforward filter (FFF) and a feedback filter (FBF). Their filter coefficients can be estimated with the conventional least mean square (LMS) algorithm.

An alternative method of curve interpolation

The Visual Computer, 2005
Given a point data set that contains several fairly unevenly distributed random points, this paper presents a new paradigm of curve interpolation to fit a curve to the data with end tangent vector constraints. The method uses a base curve, which is subjected to constrained shape manipulations to achieve interpolation, while maintaining end point and ...

An alternative to liapunov's stability method

Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 1984
Abstract By introducing two new, basic conditions, finding appropriate Liapunov functions for determining the stability of singular points of a set of ordinary first-order differential equations becomes unnecessary. Also, these conditions based on the ‘flow’ concept, yield at least the same, in most cases even a more complete amount of information on
