An alternative method for windup prevention

at - Automatisierungstechnik, 2021
Abstract Windup effects can be subdivided into controller windup and plant windup. Controller windup can be prevented by stabilizing the compensator during saturation and plant windup by an additional dynamic element. When using a compensating design, i.

Pulmonary Valvotomy: An Alternative Method

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1981
Abstract An alternative technique of pulmonary valvotomy for patients with pulmonary atresia and intact ventricular septum is presented. The method is simpler and safer than open valvotomy with inflow occlusion or with cardiopulmonary bypass. It is more precise and controlled than closed valvotomy.

Alternative Method for Hazelnuts Peeling

Food and Bioprocess Technology, 2011
The paper proposes an improved peeling treatment for hazelnut fruits consisting in dipping them in a solution (NaOH 0.4 g/100 g, NaH2PO4·H2O 0.2 g/100 g) for 10 min at 50 °C, then scrubbing them with rubber rollers. The effects of the treatment on quality and peeling of four Italian hazelnut varieties were investigated.

Industry experience with alternative methods

Toxicology Letters, 1998
L'OREAL has been using alternative methods for almost 30 years and this has led to their current widespread in-house use for evaluation of local effects in safety and efficacy. Alternative methods are used daily to assess eye and skin tolerance, phototoxicity, photoprotection, skin sensitization, percutaneous absorption and skin and hair care.

Alternative Methods in Arterial Reconstruction

Surgical Clinics of North America, 1971
As experience in arterial reconstruction has accumulated, the segmental nature of arteriopathy has been appreciated, and standardized methods of treatment have emerged. It is thus possible for modifications of standard procedures to be contrived to fit individual situations, and these variations are the subject of this article.

An alternative to liapunov's stability method

Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 1984
Abstract By introducing two new, basic conditions, finding appropriate Liapunov functions for determining the stability of singular points of a set of ordinary first-order differential equations becomes unnecessary. Also, these conditions based on the ‘flow’ concept, yield at least the same, in most cases even a more complete amount of information on

Alternative methods for the control of pain

Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 2002
T AVMA has recently issued a statement regarding the use of “Complementary and Alternative Veterinary Medicine” (CAVM) and defines it is a “heterogeneous group of preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic philosophies and practices” that includes but is not limited to: “aromatherapy; Bach flower remedy therapy; energy therapy; low energy photon therapy ...

Alternative methods of cladribine administration

Leukemia & Lymphoma, 2011
Nucleoside derivative cladribine treatment in hairy cell leukemia (HCL) is a rare example of treatment success in cancer. In fact, HCL is generally responsive to single-agent cladribine and only a minority of patients are refractory. Cladribine was originally administered intravenously as a continuous infusion at a dose of 0.1 mg/kg/day for 7 ...

An Alternate Method of Descenting Skunks

Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 1987
Striped skunk (Mephitis mephitis) scent glands were ligated closed with waxed dental floss to allow them to be handled during toxicological studies without fear of scenting. This descenting technique was more rapid and less traumatic than scent gland removal. Thirty-four skunks were kept for less than or equal to 127 days and did not display behavioral

An alternative DFE adaptation method

[Proceedings] ICASSP-92: 1992 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1992
The decision feedback channel equalizer (DFE) was introduced for dispersive communication channels for its better performance over the linear channel equalizer. A DFE consists of a feedforward filter (FFF) and a feedback filter (FBF). Their filter coefficients can be estimated with the conventional least mean square (LMS) algorithm.
