Inverse Design of Highly Deformable Mechanical Metamaterial Based on Partitional Semi‐Random Optimization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This research presents a novel optimization method for the inverse design of flexible mechanical metamaterials, enhancing traditional strategies by evaluating deformation in subregions. Combining simulated annealing with a genetic algorithm, it improves design efficiency and enables customizable deformation paths.

Remote ischemic preconditioning improves cognitive control in healthy adults: Evidence from an event-related potential study

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2022
It is suggested that remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC) may be a promising treatment for improving healthy adults’ cognitive control. However, direct empirical evidence was absent. Therefore, this study aims to provide evidence for the impact of RIPC

Bioinspired Liquid‐Free Ion‐Conductive Elastomers with Ultrahigh Mechanical Strength and Excellent Ionic Conductivity for Multifunctional Flexible Sensing Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
⁻Inspired by the “brick wall” structure of pearl layer, FLICE‐110% liquid‐free ionic conductive elastomer had high mechanical strength (5.46 MPa), excellent ionic conductivity (3.29 × 10−4 S cm−1) and resilience. It can be used in smart music boxes, airplane wings and control manipulators.

Investigating the Effect of Stratospheric Radiation on Seed Germination and Growth [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Three seed types: bean (Phaseolus vulgaris), corn (Zea mays) and radish (Raphanus sativus) were flown in a high altitude weather balloon into the mid-stratosphere to investigate the effects of high altitude radiation on germination success and seedling ...

On The Circular Altitude of Graphs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Peter Cameron introduced the concept of the circular altitude of graphs; a parameter which was shown by Bamberg et al. that provides a lower bound on the circular chromatic number. In this note, we investigate this parameter and show that the circular altitude of a graph is equal to the maximum of circular altitudes of its blocks.

Radiation Hardened Infrared Photodetectors Based on a Narrow Bandgap Conjugated Polymer Semiconductor

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
A blackbody‐sensitive infrared photodetector comprised of an open‐shell conjugated polymer demonstrates high sensitivity without cooling and exceptional radiation hardness, surpassing inorganic compound semiconductor devices. This functionality, inherent to the polymer semiconductor, provides a new frontier for low‐cost, size, weight, and power space ...

Monitoring atmospheric pollutants with a heterodyne radiometer transmitter-receiver [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
The presence of selected atmospheric pollutants can be determined by transmitting an infrared beam of proper wavelength through the atmosphere, and detecting the reflections of the transmitted beam with a heterodyne radiometer transmitter-receiver using ...

Tumor cell-derived EMP1 is essential for cancer-associated fibroblast infiltration in tumor microenvironment of triple-negative breast cancer

open access: yesCell Death and Disease
The role of epithelial membrane protein 1 (EMP1) in tumor microenvironment (TME) remodeling has not yet been elucidated. In addition, the biological function of EMP1 in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is largely unclear.
