Cyclic Peptoid-Peptide Hybrids as Versatile Molecular Transporters

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2021
Addressing intracellular targets is a challenging task that requires potent molecular transporters capable to deliver various cargos. Herein, we report the synthesis of hydrophobic macrocycles composed of both amino acids and peptoid monomers. The cyclic

Modifications at the C-Terminus To Improve Pyrrole−Imidazole Polyamide Activity in Cell Culture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Pyrrole−imidazole (Py-Im) hairpin polyamides are a class of small molecule DNA minor groove binding compounds that have been shown to modulate endogenous gene expression in cell culture.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

4-[(4-Chlorophenyl)carbamoyl]butanoic Acid

open access: yesMolbank, 2021
The X-ray crystal structure determination of the glutaric acid-amide derivative, 4-ClC6H4N(H)C(=O)(CH2)3C(=O)OH (1), is described. The backbone of the molecule adopts an extended, all-trans configuration but the terminal carboxylic acid and phenyl ...

Unlocking the Power of Quercetin‐Encapsulated Mesoporous Bioactive Glass Nanoparticles: A Multifunctional Approach to Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles (MBGNs) are investigated for bone regeneration given their remarkable structural and functional properties. MBGNs are functionalized with Mn and Cu and incorporated with quercetin, a natural flavonoid exhibiting antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties.

Structure, Conformation and Contact Analyses of Six Aromatic Diamide Diesters

open access: yesCrystals, 2023
Six meta-substituted isophthalamide diesters (DxE) and pyridinedicarboxamides (PxE) are reported with spectroscopic and crystal structure analyses (D = meta-C6H4; P = meta-pyridine; xE = 2-/3-/4-ethyl ester substitution). Comparisons are made between the

Amide Bond Activation of Biological Molecules

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
Amide bonds are the most prevalent structures found in organic molecules and various biomolecules such as peptides, proteins, DNA, and RNA. The unique feature of amide bonds is their ability to form resonating structures, thus, they are highly stable and
