The tree of life of copper-containing amine oxidases [PDF]

open access: goldFrontiers in Plant Science
Copper-containing amine oxidases (CuAOs) catalyze the terminal oxidation of polyamines (PAs), producing ammonium, an aminoaldehyde, and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Plant CuAOs are induced by stress-related hormones such as methyl-jasmonate (MeJA), abscisic

Amine oxidase copper-containing 3 (AOC3) inhibition: a potential novel target for the management of diabetic retinopathy [PDF]

open access: goldInternational Journal of Retina and Vitreous, 2021
Background Diabetic retinopathy (DR), a microvascular complication of diabetes, is the leading cause of visual impairment in people aged 20–65 years and can go undetected until vision is irreversibly lost.

Human Copper-Containing Amine Oxidases in Drug Design and Development [PDF]

open access: goldMolecules, 2020
Two members of the copper-containing amine oxidase family are physiologically important proteins: (1) Diamine oxidase (hDAO; AOC1) with a preference for diamines is involved in degradation of histamine and (2) Vascular adhesion protein-1 (hVAP-1; AOC3 ...

Zinc-α2-glycoprotein as an inhibitor of amine oxidase copper-containing 3 [PDF]

open access: goldOpen Biology, 2020
Zinc-α2-glycoprotein (ZAG) is a major plasma protein whose levels increase in chronic energy-demanding diseases and thus serves as an important clinical biomarker in the diagnosis and prognosis of the development of cachexia.

A randomised Phase IIa trial of amine oxidase copper-containing 3 (AOC3) inhibitor BI 1467335 in adults with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis [PDF]

open access: goldNature Communications, 2023
Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a progressive, inflammatory liver disease with no approved pharmacological treatment. This Phase IIa, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicentre trial (ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT03166735) investigated ...

[Functional study of amine oxidase copper-containing 1 (AOC1) in lipid metabolism]. [PDF]

open access: greenSheng Wu Yi Xue Gong Cheng Xue Za Zhi
Amine oxidase copper-containing 1 (AOC1) is a key member of copper amine oxidase family, which is responsible for deamination oxidation of histamine and putrescine. In recent years, AOC1 has been reported to be associated with various cancers, with its expression levels significantly elevated in certain cancer cells, suggesting its potential role in ...

Inactivation of copper‐containing amine oxidases by turnover products [PDF]

open access: bronzeEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 2003
For bovine serum amine oxidase, two different mechanisms of substrate‐induced inactivation have been proposed. One consists of a slow oxidation by H2O2 of a conserved residue in the reduced enzyme after the fast turnover phase [Pietrangeli, P., Nocera, S., Fattibene, P., Wang, X.T., Mondovì, B. & Morpurgo, L. (2000) Biochem. Biophys. Res.

Inhibition of copper-containing amine oxidase by oximes.

open access: bronzeChemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 1988
The inhibitory effects of twelve oxime compounds on the activity of bovine serum monoamine oxidase (copper-containing amine oxidase, E.C. 1.4.3.6) were assayed in vitro. The most potent inhibitor among the compounds examined was 2-butanone oxime, of which the 50% inhibiting concentration in the reaction mixture was 7×10-6 M.

Past, Present and Future Anti-Obesity Effects of Flavin-Containing and/or Copper-Containing Amine Oxidase Inhibitors [PDF]

open access: goldMedicines, 2019
Background: Two classes of amine oxidases are found in mammals: those with a flavin adenine dinucleotide as a cofactor, such as monoamine oxidases (MAO) and lysine-specific demethylases (LSD), and those with copper as a cofactor, including copper ...
